The Opportunity

The Business Management Lead is critical to evolve the support for and accelerate growth of the Infrastructure Advisory organization at Black & Veatch. Infrastructure Advisory has made significant progress since the introduction of our operating model and has a tremendous opportunity to establish rigorous operating practices and controls to enable sustained perpetual growth. This role will have the opportunity to provide leadership to help establish a strong foundation by designing fit-for-purpose business management capabilities, adapting from enterprise standards, and operating rhythms to enabled disciplined portfolio management bolstered by business analytics, execution controls, and operational governance to enable IA leadership to effectively oversee our business with data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management:

    • Establish and own portfolio management capabilities in collaboration with Finance, Chief of Staff and Solution Leaders. Oversee monitoring and tracking of portfolio health by conducting regular analysis, audits and portfolio reviews to enable IA leaders with data-driven insights to strategically prioritize commercial and delivery excellence opportunities.

    • In collaboration with the Pursuits Lead, help IA leaders profile and prioritize opportunities based on client and profitability attributes, defined solution level margin and risk levels, and other key criteria to proactively mitigate financial erosion.

  • Execution Controls & Quality Management:

    • Lead ideation, development and execution of suitable controls, processes, and solutions to enable commercial, delivery and operating excellence including project execution controls and at-risk tracking.

    • Implement tiered project risk review framework and oversee project risk reviews, execution controls, and tracking of financial erosion.

    • Responsible for development and application of Quality Management Standards and relevant quality documentation for sector and solution reporting purposes.

  • Business Management and Reporting:

    • Lead business analytics, portfolio insights, and executive reporting for the IA leadership team in collaboration with Finance & Chief of Staff

    • Lead IA business management strategy and help establish an effective operating rhythm to oversee the business with increased confidence

    • Development, adoption and maintenance of internal tools to support IA business management & governance workflows

    • Support Chief of Staff in business management and reporting efforts, and serve as the liaison of internal continuous improvement and growth initiatives.

  • Long Range Planning & Resource Management:


    • Partner with Finance, HR and IA Delivery Resource Management to support budgeting, overhead planning, long-range workforce planning, and resource forecasting

    • In collaboration with IA Delivery Resource Management, track resource utilization and support resource optimization opportunities across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. 8+ years related experience in business operations, strategy, HR, or finance.

Final compensation is determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, internal alignment, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.
  • State of Colorado: Low - $116,655 High - $194,535
  • State of New York: Low - $132,563 High - 221,063
