Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Power Delivery Sector Lead, the Power Delivery Business Development Professional is responsible for driving growth, developing client relationships, pursuing strategic opportunities, and leading successful project delivery across the United States.

This is a true seller-doer role that combines business development, client management, project management, and technical leadership. The successful candidate will identify and pursue new opportunities, develop and maintain key client relationships, lead proposals and interviews, and serve as Project Manager on projects they help secure. The role is expected to provide leadership throughout the full project lifecycle, from opportunity identification and capture planning through project execution and closeout.

Working collaboratively with Account Managers, Practice Leaders, Business Center Leaders, Sector Leaders, project teams, and marketing professionals, you will create and execute growth strategies while ensuring successful project delivery for utility, developer, municipal, cooperative, EPC, and industrial clients across the Power Delivery sector.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transmission, distribution, substations, grid modernization, renewable integration, and related utility infrastructure programs, combined with proven experience managing projects and developing client relationships.

Business Development and Client Growth:
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue strategic opportunities within the Power Delivery sector across the United States.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with electric utilities, developers, EPC firms, municipalities, cooperatives, industrial clients, hyperscalers and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Lead account development activities and support account planning efforts to achieve revenue and sales targets.
  • Develop client engagement strategies and maintain regular contact with key decision makers.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities, industry trends, and client needs that support long-term growth objectives.
  • Foster relationships with subcontractors, construction partners, and teaming partners to support successful project pursuits and delivery.
  • Promote Stantec's full range of capabilities to expand relationships and increase market share within key accounts.
  • Represent Stantec at industry conferences, trade associations, client meetings, and networking events.

Pursuit Leadership
  • Lead or support Go/No-Go evaluations, capture planning, proposal development, and interview preparation.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary pursuit teams and develop winning strategies for strategic opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with technical leaders to establish differentiators, value propositions, staffing plans, and project approaches.
  • Support development, review, and approval of proposals, fees, contracts, and commercial terms in accordance with Stantec policies.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline forecasts, opportunity tracking, and business development reporting.


Project Management and Project Delivery
  • Personally serve as Project Manager on projects secured through business development efforts and support delivery of strategic programs across the Power Delivery sector.
  • Act as Stantec's primary representative to clients during project execution.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams through planning, feasibility, design, procurement support, construction support, and project closeout.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and risk in accordance with Stantec's Project Management Framework.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including earned value, forecasting, profitability, and resource planning.
  • Work with discipline leads to establish project objectives, procedures, staffing plans, and performance expectations.
  • Lead project coordination meetings involving clients, contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Resolve project delivery issues and proactively manage risks to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with contractual requirements.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing pursuits and delivery of engineering design and construction services within the Power Delivery or Energy Generation Sector required. Preference will be given to those candidates with a broad background in power delivery, including each of following subsectors: transmission and distribution lines, system studies, substations, HVDC or EHV, and protection and controls.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to engage, connect and motivate others as well as empower, mentor, teach, and promote staff.
  • Project delivery experience working with a diverse and geographically distributed team and client base.
  • Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering services related to power projects.
  • Experience in business development, proposal, and budget development.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong network within industry
  • Ability to travel up to 20% and work outside normal hours of operation.
  • Valid driver's license

Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering from an accredited university required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (US or CA) is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset.
