The Opportunity

DeVry Greenhouses is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Officer / Key Account Manager for a permanent, full-time position to support the growth and development of key retail accounts across our business. This role is responsible for identifying new opportunities, strengthening customer partnerships, analyzing market trends, and developing strategies that support profitable sales growth.

The successful candidate will work closely with customers and internal teams to develop account plans, prepare business recommendations, support forecasting and program development, and ensure strong execution across strategic accounts. This role also provides leadership and guidance to supporting sales team members while helping drive long-term customer and business growth.
Responsibilities
  • Act as the main point of contact and trusted growth partner for assigned strategic retail accounts.
  • Supervise and lead the support staff to ensure consistent, high-quality execution across assigned accounts.
  • Conduct surveys and analyze data on the buying habits and preferences of wholesale and retail consumers.
  • Prepare business cases, presentations and recommendations for customer programs and new product placements.
  • Conduct comparative research on marketing strategies for industrial and commercial products.
  • Conduct analytical marketing studies.
  • Lead forecasting and sales projections in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Develop marketing strategies.
  • Develop and implement business plans.
  • Develop and execute account growth strategies across our programs.
  • Consult with clients after sale to provide ongoing support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of related experience is required.
  • Detail-oriented with strong business judgment and follow-through.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Office, MS PowerPoint and MS Word
  • Problem-solving mindset with a continuous desire to improve every aspect of the business.
  • Strong customer relationship management, business planning, and presentation skills.
  • Positive can-do attitude and professional communication.
  • Must remain calm under pressure and be able to work as part of a team.
  • Individual must be able to travel and attend corporate head offices, customer meetings, and retail locations throughout North America.
Total Rewards
  • Hourly rate $45/hour for full-time 40 hours per week.
