JOB SUMMARY:

Hanover Bank is looking for a full-time Business Development Officer/ Branch Manager at our Forest Hills location. The Business Development Officer is responsible for driving business growth in a designated branch location or across an assigned group of banking locations by developing new business opportunities, strengthening referral partnerships, and supporting branch teams in achieving deposit, fee income and overall growth goals. This role serves as a market-facing business development resource, collaborating with branch leadership and business partners to increase market share, deepen customer relationships, identifying new opportunities within the communities served and supporting the branch locations as needed.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute market-specific business development strategies to achieve growth objectives across multiple branch locations.
  • Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, community involvement, and referral partnerships.
  • Identify opportunities to expand commercial, consumer, and cash management relationships.
  • Build and actively manage a personal and team pipeline of business opportunities, to ensure deposit growth goals are attained.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, professional organizations, centers of influence, and community leaders.
  • Represent the bank at networking events, chamber of commerce meetings, and community functions to increase brand awareness and generate leads.
  • Partner with Area Managers and Assistant Managers to develop and implement sales initiatives that support branch performance goals.
  • Coach and support branch employees on business development best practices, referral generation, and relationship-building techniques.
  • Conduct joint sales calls with branch personnel to strengthen customer relationships and acquire new business.
  • Manage sales pipelines and referral activity, providing regular updates on business development efforts and results.
  • Promote collaboration between retail, commercial, mortgage, wealth management, and other business lines to maximize cross-selling opportunities
  • Ensure all branches meet or exceed goals for:
    • Small business and consumer deposit growth
    • New business account acquisition
    • Outbound calling efforts
    • Referral volume and pipeline conversion
  • Mentor assistant Branch Managers and staff on business development techniques, consultative selling, and relationship management
  • Provide branch onsite coverage as needed
  • Personally manage and grow a portfolio of key business and community relationships.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with existing customers to identify additional banking needs and deepen relationships.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service throughout the sales and onboarding process.
  • Resolve customer concerns and coordinate with internal partners to deliver timely solutions.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and business opportunities within assigned territories.
  • Track key performance indicators including new relationships, deposit growth, loan production, referrals, and business development activities.
  • Prepare regular reports on pipeline activity, sales performance, and market opportunities.
  • Recommend strategies to improve business development effectiveness and market penetration.
  • Ensure all business development activities comply with applicable banking regulations, internal policies, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information and adhere to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support a culture of operational excellence, risk awareness, and compliance.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of banking, business development, sales, or relationship management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, prospecting, and achieving sales goals.
