Full Job Description
SLG Business Development Manager

Manage executive-level customer relationships for profitability and growth. Develop new business opportunities outside of existing customer base. Define and develop new service capabilities that extend the reach of DHL Supply Chain's core value proposition. Ensure that company profit goals are met.

Key Accountabilities:
  • The Business Development Manager leads sales and account management for US and Canada domestic wine clients and prospects, specifically focused on consolidation, truckload, LTL, cross-docking and warehousing.
  • Perform regular business-to-business sales calls and work closely with current and prospective clients.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual performance reviews for each client, both externally to the client, and internally to leadership and operations.
  • Record all Client interactions in Salesforce, including phone calls, Video calls, and In-person meetings.
  • Develop sales tools, such as client facing PowerPoint presentations, marketing materials, quote templates, etc.
  • Setting the direction and managing the deliverables of the assigned sales team.
  • Identify root cause of errors and report to operations manager to address.
  • Appropriately manage the underlying activities needed to achieve or exceed margin and profitability goals.
  • Create client pricing models using our cost structure as a guideline to build profitable business.
  • Monitor market dynamics, including customer and competitor developments and funnels relevant information in the industry. Provide continuous feedback to operational management on successes and challenges of the business, with a focus on improving fulfillment and operational excellence.
  • Manage and participate in the development and scheduling of special projects such as exhibition, public relations events, promotions, etc.
  • Demonstrate strong business sense with the ability to drive the growth, directly impact the building of new solutions, services across Hillebrand's growing footprint.
  • Provide input to the development of strategic sales plans that reflect the company's business strategy to advance market share and achieve profitable growth.
  • Prioritize and self-manage with regard to business performance and sales goals.
  • Other duties including those assigned ad-hoc by manager.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strongly preferred: 5+ years in shipping/logistics/supply chain management industry
  • Preferred: 8+ years of prior experience in Sales
  • Building rapport; relationship management
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, self-starter able to move deals through the full pipeline (market, prospect, cold call, meet, listen, quote, sign deal, renew deal, implement)
  • Preferred: experience using SalesForce.com
  • Compelling, tactful negotiation and ability to create mutual wins
  • Ability to persuade and lead. Ability to recognize and cultivate talent, and develop high-potential employees into high-performing employees
  • Expertise at understanding financial metrics and statements in the logistics business
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
