Job Summary

General Atomics (GA) Energy Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Solutions Architect to join our dynamic team in the field of magnetic fusion energy. As a Technical Solutions Architect, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between complex technical concepts and customer requirements to deliver cutting-edge solutions in the field of magnetic fusion. This role demands an understanding of magnetic fusion technologies, coupled with exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, to enable the successful deployment of our innovative fusion solutions to customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical Alignment: Collaborate closely with the engineering and research teams to understand the latest advancements in magnetic fusion technologies and their applications. Align technical concepts with the unique needs and challenges of customers and potential customers, ensuring the development of tailored solutions.
  • Customer Needs Analysis: Work closely with customers to gather and analyze their specific technical requirements and challenges. Conduct discussions to comprehend their goals, constraints, and expectations.
  • Capture Support: Provide technical guidance and support to the team during pre-award engagements. Actively participate in customer meetings, presentations, and workshops, demonstrating how our fusion solutions align with their unique requirements.
  • Strategic Development Presentations: Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to stakeholders, showcasing the benefits and advantages of our magnetic fusion solutions. Clearly articulate complex technical concepts in a manner that resonates with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Solution Validation: Collaborate with the engineering and scientific teams to validate the technical feasibility of proposed solutions. Participate in proof-of-concept demonstrations to ensure that our fusion solutions meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Project Management: Act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams during the implementation phase. Oversee the successful execution of projects, ensuring that the delivered solutions align with the agreed-upon specifications.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in magnetic fusion research, technologies, and industry trends. Apply this knowledge to enhance existing solutions and develop new innovative offerings.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or Ph.D. in engineering, physics, business, public policy, or a related technical field and progressively responsible experience in business development, strategic planning, customer engagement, program development, or related activities as follows: six or more years progressively complex marketing/sales experience. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Substantive understanding of technical and business concepts, principles, practices, and market drivers relevant to advanced energy technologies, research and development programs, or related industries.
  • An expanding knowledge of business development processes, government funding mechanisms, strategic partnerships, customer engagement, proposal development, and technology commercialization activities.
  • Working knowledge of market analysis, competitive intelligence, customer needs assessment, and strategic opportunity identification is desirable.


Must possess the ability to:

  • Understand complex technical concepts quickly and effectively communicate their value to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Apply technical and business knowledge accurately within a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Identify, assess, and support strategic business opportunities aligned with organizational capabilities and objectives.
  • Organize, schedule, and coordinate multiple concurrent activities, including customer engagements, proposal efforts, conference participation, and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop recommendations and determine appropriate approaches at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to address a range of complex technical and business challenges.
  • Build productive relationships with customers, partners, government agencies, research organizations, and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver professional presentations, briefings, white papers, strategic assessments, and proposal content.
  • Analyze customer requirements, funding opportunities, market trends, and competitive landscapes to support strategic decision-making.


Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have strong communication, analytical, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; and the ability to coordinate activities across multidisciplinary technical and business organizations.
  • Experience supporting customer engagements, business capture activities, proposal development, strategic planning, market analysis, or technology commercialization efforts is highly desirable.
  • Experience interacting with government agencies, national laboratories, industrial partners, or research organizations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional efforts involving multiple stakeholders is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to build new business opportunities from concept to execution, including identifying unmet customer needs, developing engagement strategies, establishing partnerships, and securing new sources of funding or revenue, is highly desirable.
  • Able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Experience authoring successful funding proposals, strategic plans, business cases, technical marketing materials, or similar customer-facing technical documentation is highly desirable.
