What You'll Be Doing
U.S. TDAI (Technology, Data and AI) brings together teams across Technology, Information Security, Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Business Continuity Management, the Data Management Office, Corporate Real Estate, Corporate Security, and Governance and Oversight to help the bank operate effectively and support continued growth. As a Business Controls Manager, you'll work within the first line of defense to help strengthen the control environment across these functions. You'll partner closely with US TDAI leadership and second line of defense teams, including Operational Risk and Compliance, to design, implement, and manage business controls that align with the organization's risk tolerance. In this role, you'll support operational excellence by helping teams identify control gaps, address risk issues, and advance high-priority initiatives. You'll also help ensure regulatory changes, remediation efforts, and control improvements are coordinated thoughtfully and executed effectively.

How You'll Succeed
Control Design and Execution - Support the design, implementation, execution, and reporting of business controls across US TDAI lines of business to help strengthen the overall control environment.
Stakeholder Collaboration - Act as a central point of contact for business control management, partnering with TDAI leaders, second line of defense teams, control testing partners, technical subject matter experts, and architects.
Risk Management - Provide risk and compliance guidance to support the development, review, and maintenance of business controls, and help manage day-to-day risk issues, remediation activities, and special projects.
Control Inventory and Remediation - Maintain risk and control inventories, identify gaps or weaknesses, and support timely remediation to improve control effectiveness and reduce risk.
Strategic Initiative Support - Help prioritize and oversee strategic, high-visibility, and mission-critical initiatives by coordinating across stakeholders and monitoring progress.
Regulatory Change Management - Stay current on regulatory developments, assess potential impacts to the business, and support the implementation of changes within US TDAI
Who You Are
You're knowledgeable in risk and controls. You have a strong understanding of risk management principles and internal control frameworks used to identify, assess, and mitigate risk in a regulated environment.
You understand banking operations. You bring knowledge of banking products, operational processes, and the regulatory considerations that influence how work gets done.
You have regulatory awareness. You understand U.S. banking regulations and related requirements, including compliance, anti-money laundering, operational risk, and privacy.
You're highly organized and adaptable. You have strong project management skills and can manage multiple priorities, respond to change quickly, and adjust your focus based on business needs.
You're a strong communicator. You can communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing, and tailor your message for different audiences across the organization.
You're analytical and technically capable. You're comfortable using Excel for ad hoc analysis, including pivot tables, lookup functions, complex formulas, and trend analysis to help identify root causes and support informed decisions.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $90,000 USD - $105,000 USD for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
