Role SummaryThe Business Central Implementation Lead will be responsible for analyzing current business processes and procedures across the organization, documenting existing workflows, and translating them into optimized processes within the new Business Central environment. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders in both Oakville and Charlotte, strong project management discipline, and the judgment to identify opportunities to eliminate inefficiencies and automate manual processes wherever possible.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze current business processes and procedures across accounting, operations, and administrative functions
- Document existing workflows within the Microsoft Dynamics GP environment
- Design and map converted processes and procedures for the new Business Central system
- Coordinate the end-to-end implementation with software vendors and third-party consultants, including the field service management system's cloud upgrade and its Business Central integration
- Plan, manage, and execute system and process testing to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Partner with the Controller and VP of Operations to ensure the new system supports operational and financial reporting needs
- Identify and eliminate redundant or outdated processes; recommend and implement automation opportunities
- Manage change and communication to ensure a smooth transition for all users, including the Charlotte-based team
- Travel periodically to Charlotte, NC to meet with administrative and operational staff, gather requirements, and support user adoption
- Provide regular project updates to the CEO and key stakeholders
- Support post-go-live stabilization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
Qualifications- Proven experience leading or playing a lead role in an ERP implementation or system conversion (Microsoft Dynamics GP to Business Central experience strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of core accounting and operational business processes (AP, AR, GL, inventory, job costing, etc.)
- Experience documenting business processes and translating them into system requirement
- Experience with workflow automation tools such as Power Automate / Power Platform, or Business Central APIs and web services, considered a strong asset
- Familiarity with AI-assisted business tools and an interest in applying them to finance and operations work considered an asset
- Process improvement (Lean or similar) and data migration experience considered assets
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, consultants, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and driving a project from analysis through go-live
- Accounting designation (CPA) or related post-secondary education considered an asset
- Experience in a commercial HVAC, construction, field service, or similar project/job-costing-driven industry considered an asset
- Willingness and ability to travel to Charlotte, NC as required
