This position supports IT systems for the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS)/Information Technology Services (ITS). DSS has a constant increased need for the provision of full systems life cycle applications development on various computer platforms, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, employment/work engagement services, claims systems, etc., that are critical to the operation and functioning of DSS programs, requiring periodic refinements to maintain the applications at optimum service levels. Having a project portfolio which properly reflects the user's business needs and DSS' workload is crucial. Therefore, there is a need for IT consulting resources for the expanding responsibilities at DSS.
Eligibility:*Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.*Candidates must live within commuting distance to the five Boroughs of New York City.*Candidates must be able to work on-site in or near the Brooklyn, NY area.*Candidates must be prepared to provide a minimum of 2 professional references and at least one within the last 24 monthsKey Responsibilities:- Assist in managing project execution from start through completion
- Create business reports summarizing key metrics relevant to data post-import from reporting databases
- Import key data points on various key factors from multiple reporting sources including reporting databases, Enterprise data warehouse etc.
- Create adhoc reports based on data metrics
- Creating business reports for Finance including tracking with relevant metrics
- Fulfil role as Microsoft Power BI SME, advising on creation of business reports, workspace management etc. within the new Microsoft Power BI framework, as needed
- Create new business reports, datasets and dashboards in Power BI, including paginated reports as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications:A minimum of 4 years of experience with the following skill sets:
- Oracle and MS SQL Server
- SQL and PL/SQL
- Microsoft Power BI, MS Excel, VB Script
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or higher in related field
