Full Job Description
Business Analyst 3

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst 3 to support multiple software development projects, with a focus on major enhancements and/or rewrite efforts. This position will perform advanced, senior-level business analysis work and serve as the connection between business stakeholders and the software development team.

The Business Analyst will help gather, document, and manage requirements throughout the software development life cycle. This role will focus on understanding business needs, improving processes, documenting clear requirements, and verifying that requirements are fulfilled, including enhancements after implementation.

Essential Functions
Elicitation & Analysis
Analyze user needs, business processes, pain points, and computer system capabilities to automate or improve existing systems. Elicit requirements using joint application development (JAD), interviews, document analysis, surveys, use cases, competitive product analysis, and workflow analysis.
Requirements Writing & Visual Output
Transform information from elicitation sessions into business and functional requirements, use cases, user stories, software requirements specifications documents, wireframes, and mockups. Use standard templates and simple, unambiguous, and concise natural language.
BA Best Practices & Mentorship
Act as a mentor to peers and colleagues by sharing best practices and proactively seeking out training opportunities.
Using Tools Effectively
Use tools such as Jira and Modern Requirements to manage the change control process, participate in the SDLC, and track and communicate requirements status.

Required Qualifications
8 years of experience eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating well-written system requirements
8 years of experience with software development life cycles (SDLCs)
8 years of business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement experience
8 years of experience developing user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices
8 years of experience designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices
5 years of demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills
5 years of demonstrated strong writing and organization skills
4 years of documented work experience with an education agency, education organization, or education vendor
2 years of documented work experience with the issue tracking software Atlassian Jira
2 years of documented work experience with the requirements management software Modern

Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
1 year of experience working with special education data
1 year of experience with Power BI data visualization features and capabilities
