Business Analyst 3
Client is seeking 2 Business Analyst 3 candidates who meet the general qualifications of Business Analyst 3, Applications/Software Development.
The Business Analyst position works on multiple projects that support the mission of improving outcomes for students, with a focus on major enhancements and/or rewrite effort.
This position will perform advanced, senior-level business analysis work. The Business Analyst serves as the conduit between the program/customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow. This Business Analyst will be involved at some level throughout the entire software development life cycle. Upon establishment of the requirements baseline, the focus is shifted towards the management of the requirements specification and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements, including requirements for enhancements post-implementation.
Essential Functions
Elicitation & Analysis
Analyzes user needs, business processes, pain points, and computer system capabilities to automate or improve existing systems. Elicits requirements using joint application development (JAD), interviews, document analysis, surveys, use cases, competitive product analysis, and workflow analysis.
Requirements Writing & Visual Output
Transforms information from elicitation sessions into business and functional requirements, use cases, user stories, software requirements specifications documents, wireframes, and mockups. Uses standard templates and simple, unambiguous, and concise natural language.
BA Best Practices & Mentorship
Acts as a mentor to peers and colleagues in disseminating best practices and proactively seeks out training opportunities.
Using Client Tools Effectively
Uses Client tools, such as Jira and Modern Requirements, to manage the change control process, participate in the SDLC, and track and communicate requirements status.
Minimum Requirements
- 8 years Required - Experience eliciting requirements from interviews with customers and creating well-written system requirements
- 8 years Required - Experience with software development life cycles (SDLCs)
- 8 years Required - Business process re-engineering and software process flow improvement experience
- 8 years Required - Experience developing user stories and use cases that conform to business analysis best practices
- 8 years Required - Experience designing mockups and/or wireframes that conform to UX best practices
- 5 years Required - Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills
- 5 years Required - Demonstrated strong writing and organization skills
- 1 year Required - Documented work experience with the issue tracking software "Atlassian Jira"
- 1 year Required - Documented work experience with a requirements management software tool, such as "Modern Requirements"
- 1 year Required - Documented work experience with Client OR a federal/state/local education agency OR education vendor
