Job OverviewThe Bulk Tank Supervisor plays a key role in executing assigned Bulk Tank tasks. This includes administrative duties pertaining to the Bulk Tank department such as schedules, modifying routes, conducting driver evaluations, and responding to and resolving driver issues.
Key Responsibilities- Assist management with supervising employees of the Bulk Tank department.
- Be on-call to assist in handling bulk tank driver issues.
- Drive tank truck to milk producer site and receive milk to cover call-ins/emergencies as needed.
- Monitor, review and manage all truck routes.
- Monitor waiting times at Byrne facilities and determine ways to decrease.
- Maintain work schedules for drivers and monitor hours.
- Perform HR related tasks for bulk tank department, i.e., interview potential bulk tank drivers, complete paperwork (Personal Development Interviews, PAN's, Merit Pay forms, First Report of Incident's), managing payroll, etc.
- Train new and incumbent drivers as required.
- Ride with drivers and perform evaluations as needed.
- Manage truck scale weights.
- Coordinate effectively with the garage on truck and trailer repairs and arrange tank repairs and deliveries.
- Manage Byrne transported raw milk to outside processing sights and to Byrne facilities.
- Renew truck Thruway permits annually.
- Maintain records on equipment for the Bulk tank fleet.
- Maintain and inventory supplies (ticket books, safety supplies, etc.).
- Communicate equipment needs to Director of Milk Procurement.
- Schedule and participate in semi-annual Bulk Tank Meeting with the Senior Director of Logistics.
- Schedule and participate in quarterly safety meetings with Director of Fleet Safety.
- Arrange monthly birthday/anniversary celebration for bulk tank department.
- Promote and maintain Company, NYS DOT, and OSHA safety policies.
- Promote and maintain all NYS regulations regarding handling and sampling of raw milk.
- Communicate effectively and accurately relevant information to co-workers and leadership.
- Promote a fair, open, and professional relationship with all employees.
- Promote a safe and harmonious work environment and adherence to company policy and procedures.
Min. Qualifications- A minimum of GED or High School Diploma is required.
- Must have ability to obtain a NYS Milk Receiver's license.
- Must possess a valid CDLA with Air Brake to include a Tanker endorsement.
- 5+ years of experience.
