Position Location: This role supports our Sacramento branch location, which serves customers throughout the greater Sacramento area.
The
Associate Buildings Energy Engineer or Buildings Energy Engineer role involves working closely with our existing Siemens Customers to help improve their facility's energy efficiency and carbon footprint. This will involve performing energy audits, energy calculations, existing building commissioning, designing custom solutions and participating in Customer facing presentations. This position also requires coordinating business development strategy with sales and technology solution managers within Siemens. The ideal candidate would be someone comfortable with taking a leading role and has a passionate for customer service as well as energy efficiency. The focus of this position is to drive the Energy Services business within the local market for Siemens Smart Infrastructure.
As an Associate Buildings Energy Engineer OR Buildings Energy Engineer, you will: - Perform energy calculations (such as weather-based BIN calculations).
- Apply building energy simulation programs to develop energy, cooling, and heating load-building models using modeling software.
- Analyze blueprints to identify mechanical, electrical, and controls systems to determine facility operational characteristics.
- Participate in pre-sale activities, working closely with Sales to identify and technically qualify customer opportunities for energy efficiency.
- Participate and at times lead client meetings and presentations. The Associate Buildings Energy Engineer & the Buildings Energy Engineer is responsible for performing all necessary energy and design calculations needed to adequately propose facility improvement measure (FIM) recommendations.
- Work with Siemens operations teams and outside vendors as it pertains to developing FIMs.
- Assist and at time lead existing building commissioning projects.
- Understanding of industry standard commissioning procedures or techniques.
You will make an impact with the following qualifications: Basic Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
- Must be at least 21 years old to participate in required Siemens vehicle plan and have a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Must be able to demonstrate:
- Presentation skills
- Verbal and written communication skills in English
- Experience with Mechanical HVAC systems and/or design
- Experience with data analysis tools to identify trends and patterns
- For the Energy Buildings Engineer Position:
- 2+ years Mechanical HVAC systems or design experience
- Must be able to demonstrate:
- An understanding of HVAC design fundamentals
- Experience with controls fundamentals
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field
- Experience with energy efficiency engineering within buildings
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification and/or state certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer
- Understanding of State and Utility Incentive programs
- Perform industry-standard (ASHRAE or equivalent) energy audits. This will require working independently to develop action plans prior to executing energy audits, properly organizing information gathered, and identification of FIM recommendations
- 5+ Years of experience with Energy industry experiences supporting performance-based projects or energy services
- Familiarity with MS Excel and VBA programming basics
- For Building Energy Engineer:
- 2+ years of experience in energy efficiency engineering within buildings
- Experience with existing building/HVAC systems commissioning
- Experience developing design concepts and schematics concerning recommended facility improvement measures (FIM's), including scope of work descriptions, sequences of operations, code deficiency evaluations, savings potential, cost estimates, and data to verify FIMs

The pay range for this position is $55,264 - $ 115,790 annually. The
Buildings Energy Engineer role also has a target incentive of 5% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
