About the PositionWe are seeking a
Structural Building Engineer who is passionate about asset preservation, rehabilitation, and the transformation of existing buildings. As part of a multidisciplinary building engineering team, you will contribute to a wide range of projects involving the inspection, assessment, rehabilitation, and modification of
concrete, steel, wood, and masonry structures.
You will be involved in all phases of a project, from assessing existing conditions to designing structural solutions and providing construction support services.
Key Responsibilities- Perform field surveys, inspections, and structural assessments of existing buildings.
- Conduct structural analyses and calculations for concrete, steel, wood, and masonry structures.
- Design strengthening, rehabilitation, and renovation solutions for existing structures.
- Participate in the preparation of expert reports, technical studies, and asset condition assessments.
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, architectural, and building envelope teams.
- Conduct site visits and provide technical support throughout construction.
- Verify that construction work complies with project drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
- Prepare, sign, and seal engineering documents in accordance with the requirements of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to the development of long-term professional relationships.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering, with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Holder of a valid engineering seal.
Experience- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in building structural engineering.
- Significant experience with existing buildings, asset preservation, rehabilitation, or the transformation of existing facilities.
- Experience in structural inspections, expert assessments, or the design of corrective measures is considered a strong asset.
Technical Knowledge- Strong knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) and applicable industry standards.
- Solid understanding of concrete, steel, wood, and masonry structures.
- Knowledge of asset management principles and building lifecycle management.
- Experience in structural analysis and rehabilitation of existing structures.
Software- Experience with SAFI, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar structural analysis software (asset).
- AutoCAD.
- Structural analysis and design software.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
