Commercial Plumbing Inspector - Grand Prairie, TX

Salary: $67.00/hr - $74.00/hr

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Commercial Plumbing Inspector to support a large-scale data center construction project in El Paso, Texas. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a mission-critical commercial project while ensuring compliance with applicable plumbing codes, approved plans, and industry standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Perform field inspections during all phases of commercial plumbing construction for a data center project.
  • Inspect plumbing systems, fixtures, piping, and related installations for compliance with approved plans, applicable plumbing codes, and project specifications.
  • Read and interpret commercial construction drawings, plumbing plans, and engineering documents.
  • Provide code-compliant recommendations and explain inspection findings to contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports, documentation, and electronic records.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
  • Extensive knowledge of the International Plumbing Code (IPC), applicable Texas plumbing regulations, and current commercial construction practices.
  • Minimum of three years of experience interpreting plumbing codes and providing code-compliant solutions in the field.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with contractors, engineers, project teams, governmental agencies, and the public.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic inspection software.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Texas Master Plumber or Journeyman Plumber License required.
  • Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE) Plumbing Inspector License required.
  • ICC Plumbing Inspector Certification preferred.
  • Experience performing commercial plumbing inspections required; data center or large commercial project experience strongly preferred.
  • Additional ICC certifications are a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Mobility & Movement:

  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, or kneeling to conduct inspections.


  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, or unfinished stairways to access roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other elevated or confined areas.


  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 25-50 pounds (e.g., inspection tools, plans, or small equipment).


Vision & Hearing:

  • Visual acuity sufficient to read construction plans, technical documents, and observe construction details.


  • Ability to detect safety hazards and defects through visual and auditory inspection.


  • Hearing sufficient to communicate with contractors, workers, and the public in noisy environments.


Manual Dexterity:

  • Use of hands and fingers to handle tools, operate inspection equipment, and use computers/tablets for reporting.


Work Environment:

  • Work performed in both office and field settings.


  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) and construction site environments (noise, dust, uneven terrain).


  • Frequent driving between inspection sites and company locations within a region.
