Build the Software Behind Smarter Buildings

We're looking for a curious, motivated engineer who enjoys solving real-world problems and seeing the impact of their work firsthand.

In this role, you'll help create intelligent building automation solutions that improve energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational performance for commercial facilities. You'll work directly with customers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and apply both technical expertise and creative problem-solving to deliver successful projects.

Whether your experience comes from building automation, controls engineering, industrial automation, software development, or a related field, we're interested in individuals who understand logical thinking, systems integration, and how to turn complex requirements into effective solutions.

If you've worked with programming or scripting languages (such as C#, Python, Visual Basic, Java, C++, or similar technologies) your experience can translate well to the control systems and automation platforms we use every day.

What You'll Do

As a key member of our engineering team, you will:
  • Design, configure, and implement control solutions for HVAC, energy management, and building automation systems.
  • Translate sequences of operation and customer requirements into reliable, scalable automation strategies.
  • Work with industry-leading platforms such as Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) and Tridium Niagara to develop and optimize building systems.
  • Spend time on-site with customers during project execution, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization efforts to ensure successful project delivery and strong client relationships.
  • Partner directly with building owners, operators, and facility teams to understand challenges and develop solutions that improve performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with our project managers, engineers, field technicians, and sales teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Commission, test, troubleshoot, and optimize systems to ensure reliable operation and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop intuitive user interfaces, graphics, dashboards, and tools that provide actionable insights for building operators.
  • Support energy-efficiency, sustainability, and operational improvement initiatives for a diverse range of facilities.
  • Participate in peer reviews, technical discussions, and process improvements that strengthen our engineering practices.

What You Bring

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, collaborative, adaptable, and eager to learn.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in building automation, controls engineering, industrial automation, systems engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of controls logic, troubleshooting, system integration, and problem-solving.

  • Experience with DDC systems, HVAC controls, environmental systems, or other automation technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing project conditions, and perform effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Willingness to travel locally within the Greater Chicago area to support customer sites and project activities.

Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara.
  • Experience with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO).
  • Experience in data centers, critical facilities, power monitoring, or mission-critical environments.
