ResponsibilitiesOBXtek is currently looking for a Senior Budget Analyst to support SAF/AQX at Headquarters Pentagon. SAF/AQX serves as the Air Force’s focal point for integrated acquisition planning, execution, and oversight, providing expert advice to senior Department of the Air Force (DAF) leadership, the Service Acquisition Executive (SAE), Program Executive Officers (PEOs), and Program Managers (PMs). The office supports programming, budgeting, acquisition reporting, and reform initiatives while overseeing critical Defense Industrial Base (DIB) activities, including Government‑Owned Contractor‑Operated (GOCO) facilities and Defense Production Act (DPA) efforts. SAF/AQX also functions as the acquisition domain functional CIO, leading enterprise architecture, data strategy, and business systems that enable informed, synchronized decision‑making across the Air Force acquisition enterprise.
This position is onsite at the Pentagon 5 days per week.
The tasks for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Reviewing budget documentation material and analyzing and developing recommendations and reports on the financial and budgeting aspects of the programs.
- Tracking program cost and funding data through the PPBE cycles, reviewing and interpreting programmatic data, and preparing cost- related inputs for required reports.
- Performing analyses of program funding for all PPBE phases and other budget exercises.
- Tracking and assessing resource allocation options and identifying possible impacts of proposed funding positions.
- Researching and analyzing program funding and execution trends data from sources such as the EVMS and identify issues, recommend solutions.
- Recommending changes to funding documentation to ensure standardization and compliance with requirements and making recommendations for process improvement.
- Utilizing Air Force financial software, automated databases, standard office application software, and database tools. (ABIDES, Program & Budget Enterprise System (PBES), ASARS, AFM, CRIS, IDECS, Microsoft Office Suite).
- Updating data in Air Force budget and execution plan preparation databases.
- Tracking and researching financial regulations and policies.
- Analyzing budgeting and financial processes associated with Air Force PPBE.
- Supporting LCC and other program cost-estimating efforts including disseminating information for international partners and FMS.
- Any other tasks closely associated with the performance of duties list above and as coordinated with the COR
Qualifications
Active Top Secret clearance, SCI eligibility
Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in business or related discipline.
- At least 10 years of relevant acquisition (programs of record) experience in a System Program Office and/or Air Force Headquarters.
- Must be proficient in allcomputer-based communication/office IT tools, to include the following: Microsoft (MS) Office Suite 6 Word, Power Point, SharePoint, Excel, TEAMS; Adobe (both reader and Pro).
- Must have the ability to learn new software/office IT tools as needed in a timely manner.
- Must be proficient in public speaking: capable of delivering briefs, speaking in meetings in person and online, and giving presentations.
Work Experience Substitutions:
- 12 years of relevant work experience may be substituted for a MA/MS degree.
- BA/BS degree plus 8 years of relevant work experience may be substituted for a MA/MS degree.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move or traverse throughout a large, secure facility and between multiple work areas
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists and fingers
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer
