Qualifications

• No previous teaching experience required; faculty development program provided.
• Valid, active nursing license from State Board of Registered Nursing.
• Master of Nursing or advanced degree with coursework in nursing or education/administration.
• Minimum four years of direct patient care experience as a registered nurse.
• One year of clinical experience within the past five years; clinical teaching counts as direct patient care.
• Expertise in specific nursing fields: Psychiatric, Geriatrics, Med/Surg, Pediatrics, OB-Gyn, or Mental Health.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with instructors to prepare and grade course examinations.
• Ensure class attendance and grades are documented and submitted.
• Assist in planning and evaluating instructional initiatives for quality improvement.
• Plan and implement new faculty orientation for courses.
• Utilize adult learning principles in teaching methodologies.
• Continuously work to enhance the quality of instruction.
• Demonstrate or learn to utilize online teaching materials and activities.
• Maintain student records including attendance and skills assessments.
• Submit program reports and forms promptly to the program director.
• Stay updated on new technologies and safety regulations.
• Participate in committee activities supporting the nursing program.
• Attend faculty meetings regularly.
• Supervise student clinical experiences at healthcare facilities.
• Evaluate clinical student performance in line with established policies.
• Provide immediate feedback to students on their clinical performance.
• Ensure that clinical assignments meet both student and facility requirements.
• Determine the best methods for observing, instructing, and evaluating students.
• Assess if clinical facilities comply with health and safety standards.
• Facilitate ongoing communication with students through office hours and electronic methods.
• Engage in student advising activities.
