Full Job Description
The BSA Specialist is responsible for investigating suspicious activity, filing Suspicious Activity Reports, performing Currency Transaction Report (CTR) quality assurance reviews and filing CTR reports with FinCEN, conducting and/or auditing Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) reviews, and responding to BSA/AML inquiries from FinCEN and law enforcement. Supports the BSA Officer in the planning, organizing, and conducting all aspects of monitoring activities related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and OFAC compliance. In the absence of the BSA Officer, provides line of business advisory and governance oversight, including SAR filing, BSA/AML training, communications and strategic input across all lines of business. Serves as the backup BSA Officer, responsible for administering and monitoring the Bank's BSA/AML/OFAC program in the absences of the BSA Officer.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist in the coordinating and monitoring compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and Bank's BSA policy. Function as the Bank's liaison with all federal agencies for matters pertaining to the BSA and maintain all bank records required by the BSA policy.
  • Remain current with BSA regulatory compliance and assists in establishing controls to mitigate risks emerging from new regulation, legislation and issues identified in the industry.
  • Adhere to and comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance, including those relating to Anti-Money Laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, etc.) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control Economic Sanctions Enforcement guidelines.
  • Review and investigate escalated alerts, Questionable Activity Reports, and other cases for potential suspicious activity.
  • Apply knowledge of BSA/AML regulations to the analysis/review of customers and activity in order to identify and report suspicious activity.
  • Complete Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) as required by the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Respond to law enforcement inquiries and requests regarding SARs filed.
  • Investigate and respond to USA PATRIOT Act section 314(a) and 314(b) Information Sharing Requests.
  • Make recommendations for closing accounts and perform associated follow-up to ensure closure of the accounts.
  • Conduct research and analysist on individuals, entities, or events through public records, media, and/or other research tools.
  • Respond to inquiries from branch and business line personnel on BSA/AML matters.
  • Perform quality assurance on CDD & EDD reviews.
  • Assists with the BSA/AML/OFAC risk assessments and policy for new and enhanced product and service development, assessing inherent risk and exposure, as well as applicable control environment.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities specific to department functions and activities.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Professional /Educational Experience:
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training. CAMS certification preferred
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education,
    experience and/or training.

The hiring pay range for this position is $89,370 to 125,117. In addition to the pay range listed, all bank positions are eligible for incentive compensation, which varies based on role. The pay rate for a successful applicant depends on a variety of factors including but not limited to geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
