Broadcast Engineer. The position is scheduled to work 5 days, 8 hours, some evenings.
Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.
Who we are looking forWe are looking for a customer-focused Broadcast Engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting advanced media technology. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in broadcast, production, post-production and audiovisual systems, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, maintain critical infrastructure, and ensure reliable operations during live and recorded productions. This individual will provide technical leadership for system integrations, technology upgrades, vendor coordination, and long-term maintenance of the City's media and AV systems. Success in this role requires a proactive problem solver who can balance day-to-day operational support with strategic planning and continuous improvement of our broadcast and production environments.

Minimum qualifications- A Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Engineering, Media Production, Computer Science or a related field; and
- 5 years of experience supporting broadcast, video production, audiovisual, or related technical systems, including experience troubleshooting and maintaining broadcast equipment, studio systems, audiovisual infrastructure and production workflows; and
- a valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or
- any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Desired qualifications- Strong understanding of broadcast engineering principles, video production systems, audiovisual technologies, and end-to-end media workflows.
- Certifications such as AVIXA CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) certifications, and other broadcast engineering or audiovisual certifications.
- Knowledge of broadcast signal flow, IP-based production workflows, AV system integration, RF systems, and overall broadcast infrastructure.
- Experience with editing workflows and shared storage systems, including media asset management platforms, supporting collaborative multi-user production environments.
- Skilled in troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing broadcast, production, post-production, lighting, and audiovisual systems and equipment to ensure reliable day-to-day operational performance.
- Experience with studio lighting design, DMX systems, and lighting console programming in professional broadcast environments.
- Strong ability to diagnose technical issues quickly during live or scheduled productions and coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, and technical support teams to resolve problems.
- Experience installing, configuring, and integrating broadcast, AV, and production equipment, including cinema cameras, switchers, audio systems, and related technologies.
This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
