Job DescriptionStantec is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to be a part of the growing design team in Raleigh, North Carolina. Your Key Responsibilities- Prepare structural design calculations, plans and contract documents in accordance with applicable design and agency standards (i.e. AASHTO, ACI, AISC, NCDOT, etc.).
- Develop plan submissions for all manner of structural transportation projects.
- Perform structural analysis of new designs and existing structures (bridges and other transportation structures).
- Lead and reviewing conceptual design alternatives to develop innovative and cost-effective design solutions.
- Potentially perform inspection of simple and complex bridges along with preparing the inspection reports.
QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas.
- Experience with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications is required.
- Experience with NCDOT design criteria and requirements is preferred.
- Experience in developing plans using Bentley Microstation.
- Bridge load rating experience preferred.
- Understanding of national and state bridge inspection methods, evaluations, and report preparation is preferred.
- Successful Completion of FHWA/NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges training course is preferred, but not required.
- Bridge Condition Inspection experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Experience on bridge design/analysis software.
Education and Experience- Minimum of 5 years structural engineering experience on bridges and other transportation structures.
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering. Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in North Carolina.
Position will work in an office setting and possibly require field work.
