Job Description

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Bridge Engineer in Providence, RI.

Job Details:
  • Serve as the lead structural engineer on projects including reviewing designs and plans
  • Provide specialized technical input on transportation related projects, particularly vehicle and rail bridges
  • Conduct load rating analyses for highway and rail bridges ensuring all structures meet regulatory and safety requirements
  • Provide conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of new bridges utilizing pre-stressed concrete, reinforced concrete, structural steel, and timber components
  • Review and check design calculations for bearings, expansion joints, baseplates, and gravity walls, and prepare technical reports documenting findings and recommendations
  • Evaluate the impact of increased train speeds, utility modifications, and other operational changes on the integrity of existing bridges and retaining walls
  • Perform inspection, assessment, and rehabilitation design of existing bridges
  • Utilize computer software for the analysis and design of complex structures
  • Prepare technical specifications and design documents, report writing, technical engineering support, and limited inspection during construction
  • Telecommuting permitted 2-4 days per week
  • Professional Engineer License or ability to obtain Professional Engineer License within six months of hire


Qualifications

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field of study and 3 years of experience as a Bridge Engineer, Structural Engineer, Civil Engineer, or in a related occupation.

Position requires experience in the following:
  1. Professional Engineer License or ability to obtain Professional Engineer License within six months of hire
  2. Structural analysis and design according to local and national standards
  3. Bridge load rating using regional policies and guidelines
  4. Technical report writing and peer review
  5. Project management experience
  6. Directing staff as a structural lead for bridge design projects
