Description

Our infrastructure practice is looking for an established leader to guide and grow our Springdale, Arkansas office into an integrated design-build practice serving Arkansas, Oklahoma, southwest Missouri, southeast Kansas, and beyond. This leader will build from a well-established and high-performance team of engineering professionals providing engineering, construction administration, and project delivery consultation services to municipal, port, rail, and department of transportation clients. The role will expand the team to include construction professionals and integrate the engineering and construction teams to effectively win and execute collaborative delivery projects, specifically through progressive design-build and at-risk construction management. This position will become a leader within our national network of engineering and construction professionals providing transportation, heavy civil, and site civil design and construction services while experiencing the benefits of employee-ownership at one of the nation's best design-build companies.

A Brief Overview

The Branch Office Manager in Springdale, Arkansas will be directly responsible for the overall success of the office's Transportation global practice while supporting the growth and performance of other Burns & McDonnell global practices operating there. The Springdale Branch Office lies within the Kansas City Region. This position will manage the development and implementation of objectives, programs, procedures, safety and initiatives that drive business planning, growth, and sales for the office in close collaboration and cooperation with the Kansas City Transportation Global Practice Manager and National Construction Director. The Branch Office Manager will also successfully oversee business development, project management, financial performance, and client satisfaction for the full portfolio of engineering and construction projects. Reporting to the Branch Office Manager will be an Engineering Manager that currently oversees sales and operations of a flourishing engineering business. The Branch Office Manager will assemble a team of construction professionals to execute collaborative delivery projects in the region, transitioning the office into a fully integrated design-build business.

What you will do
  • Lead the region's safety practices and culture by example.
  • Responsible for the managerial direction of the Branch office.
  • Ensure profitable and sound growth. Achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.
  • Manages the office/global practice financials to generate a positive net return.
  • Lead recruiting of construction talent and support engineering recruiting.
  • Review workload and monthly financial reports deliverables including project scheduling, budgeting, cash flow forecast, and project status reports.
  • Manage communication with local governmental, industry, and public entities, and community relations on company and project-related matters.
  • Champion sales and marketing activities. Identify opportunities and manage team efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiation and related activities.
  • Serves as the executive-in-charge and provides leadership-level input and evaluation on project risks, contracting strategies, and execution.
  • Responsible for collaborating with business development managers, business line leads, project managers, and proposal production staff on proposals to secure work for office.
  • Lead go/no-go evaluations, ensure establishment of capture plans, project work plans and review price proposals.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost, and establishing critical Construction and/or Self-Perform project objectives.
  • Participates in project risk and pricing reviews.
  • Responsible for successful project execution and timely completion of projects within budget while providing expertise in multiple facets of projects including safety, quality, procurement, construction, environmental compliance, project controls, and public/community relations.
  • Lead communication between Engineering divisions and Construction division.
  • Conduct project safety, quality, progress and financial audits and assessments as required.
  • Interpret policies, purposes, and goals of organization to staff.
  • Provides counsel and assistance to office employees, guided by company's policies.
  • Responsible for development and retention of managers and staff.
  • Provide professional support in recruitment and assist in all human resources related matters.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Science or related field from an accredited curriculum and 13 years related experience, including 5 or more years leading and managing multi-discipline teams required.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet finical goals, project management, business development, sales and marketing, recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
  • Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Previous consulting experience preferred.
