Full Job Description

The Impact You'll Have:
  • Drive operational excellence by overseeing site functionality while championing a culture of safety, sanitation, and security through proactive awareness and preventative measures.
  • Deliver robust financial results through expert cost center management and a proven track record of operational success.
  • Navigate complex regulatory landscapes with ease, maintaining strong relationships with the MOE and MOL to ensure seamless compliance.
  • Ensure every site operates at the highest standards, strictly adhering to environmental approvals and Ontario regulations to meet our customers' critical needs.
  • Lead with GFL's vision and values, managing financial, human, and physical resources to achieve the goals set in our annual Business Plan.
  • Take full ownership of P&L responsibility, utilizing accurate monthly forecasting to exceed financial and performance targets.
  • Inspire and develop a high-performing team in a unionized environment, overseeing everything from recruitment and training to performance management and professional growth.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on waste processing and disposal policies to staff across all facilities.
  • Optimize industrial waste processing operations, eliminating bottlenecks and increasing site flexibility for maximum efficiency.
  • Support Site Operations Managers in the preparation of high-impact tenders, quotes, and reports for critical operating and maintenance works.
  • Maintain the highest security for product handling and destruction, meeting the stringent requirements of both government and customers.
  • Strategize for the future by developing long-term operating procedures that maintain ongoing compliance and operational excellence.
  • All other duties as may be assigned related to the role and operation.


What You Bring:
  • A college diploma or degree in business, or equivalent professional experience that demonstrates your business acumen.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in an Operations or Business Manager role.
  • Deep expertise in waste systems, processing equipment, and vehicle operations.
  • A proven background in warehouse management and associated inventory tracking systems.
  • Strong regulatory knowledge, including the Highway Traffic Act, OH & S Act, and Regulation 347.
  • A stellar record of managing safe and efficient waste processing sites.
  • Valid WHMIS training and a commitment to safety standards.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including Google Workspace, Excel, and OMS.

  • Strong analytical skills and the financial prowess to manage an operation from top to bottom line.
