Job DescriptionPosition Summary Perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on controls systems for large, commercial HVAC boilers (gas-fired hot water boilers, gas-fired steam boilers, and electric-fired steam boilers), steam boiler experience is a plus not mandatory. and on related equipment. Understand equipment and process flow and effectively troubleshoot problems to ensure everything is working properly, efficiently, and affordably. Southland Industries is a signatory contractor of the Local Union 250.
Position Details- Inspect, maintain, and repair all components of boiler systems and associated
- mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair control systems, electrical circuitry, deaerators, gasand fuel pressure lines, feedwater pumps, compressors, motors, heatexchangers, and other related equipment.
- Effectively use combustion analyzer, electric multi-meter, and other related test equipment to test and analyze systems and equipment.
- Perform calibrations and checkouts to basic instrumentation such as gauges,pressure transmitters, flow meters, pneumatic and electronic drive units,variable speed motor controls (VFDs), etc.
- Follow preventative maintenance schedules and perform routinemaintenance and repair, including disassembly, cleaning, and re-assembly functions, fire tube maintenance, water side maintenance, boiler controlsdisassembly and the repair and rebuilding of controls.
- Monitor systems and perform safety inspections to ensure compliance withestablished safety requirements of EPA and SCAQMD regulations.
- Document preventive maintenance and repair as required.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used. Complete all necessary paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist Service Sales with customer scope development, technical analysis and support for retrofits, control upgrades and enhancements to existingequipment.
- Assist with estimating time and material costs.
- Perform all work within the confines of Southland's safety rules and regulations.
- Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
Qualifications - At least 5 years' experience in the repair, maintenance, and operation of large commercial boilers and steam generation systems and or technical schooling
- Valid California Driver License to meet Southland Driving policy
- OSHA-10 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire)
- Basic working knowledge of computers, micro-processor technology with computer-based building control systems and computerized preventative maintenance programs
- Ability to read blueprints, layout plans and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to effectively manage time and complete delegated work within specified timeframe.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug-screen and physical tests.
- Must be available to be on stand-by or work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Southland's partnering General Contractors, Owners, Customers, etc.

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California this ranges from $28.00/hour - $65.00/hour plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
