Full Job Description

Greenberg Traurig is seeking an IP associate or Patent agent to join its dynamic Boston Intellectual Property group, which has experienced unprecedented growth over the past year. The associate or agent will have the opportunity to work with clients, large and small, from a variety of industries across the country, including interacting with GT attorneys across our global platform.We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical background in the biological sciences, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.  The ideal candidate will have at least two years of relevant experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, evaluating patent portfolios, and performing due diligence investigations.

Qualifications & Prior Experience

  • Candidates should be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • A Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Chemistry, or a related discipline is required.  
  • Experience in a law firm is desirable. 
  • Candidates must have excellent academic credentials, as well as outstanding organizational and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Candidates should possess leadership skills, be comfortable working directly with clients and work well with others.

Candidates must be admitted to the patent bar, and associate candidates must be admitted to the Massachusetts Bar or eligible for admission to the Massachusetts Bar. The expected pay range for this position is:

Associate: $235,000 - $365,000 per year
Patent Agent: $150,000 to $185,000 per year

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.  Additional voluntary programs include:  voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance.  Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
