Responsibilities

Effective Date: 08/14

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides biostatistical and programming support to staff doing clinical research at the Medical Center.
• Performs statistical planning, design, analyses, interpretations, and presentations.
• Designs, develops, and implements statistical and data collection tools, and other clinical research application systems as assigned.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, repetitive arm/hand motions, frequent gripping of an object.
• Frequent: sitting.
• Occasional: standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.
• Operates (equipment). computer, calculator, printer, copier, telephone, facsimile.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Master's degree in statistics or epidemiology with undergraduate work in computer science or information systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of major statistical software, such as SAS, and working knowledge of database and applications systems development using a RDBMS, such as FoxPro or ACCESS.

B. EXPERIENCE:
• Two (2) years experience performing statistical analyses using major statistical software, such as SAS.
• Experience in developing databases and computerized application systems.
• Experience in healthcare or clinical trials research and grant or protocol preparation/development preferred.
