Full Job Description
AECOM is seeking a **Biosolids Treatment Lead** to join our Water & Wastewater team in the Greater Toronto Area. This is a new, unique opportunity to step into a senior leadership role delivering high-profile municipal wastewater and biosolids infrastructure projects that support the growth and environmental stewardship of communities across Ontario.
With your experience in municipal wastewater and solids treatment, you bring strong technical expertise in biosolids process evaluation, design, equipment integration, project delivery, and commissioning. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, partner with clients and regulators, and work alongside AECOM's local and national wastewater specialists to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions.
**The work will include:**
- Lead AECOM biosolids design on key projects.
- Leads department efforts to grow technical expertise.
- Supports, oversees, and coordinates engineering activities in the area of Biosolids Technology.
- Mentoring and guiding staff and project managers on technical solutions in the area of Biosolids Technology on projects.
- Understanding project requirements and recommend solutions required in the in the area of Biosolids Technology.
- Recognized expert in technical leadership within their domain or specialty area, serving as the primary technical leader for their business area.
- Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications to ensure AECOM remains a leader in emerging technologies, delivery methods, funding mechanisms, geopolitical issues, and/or other industry drivers.
- Uses creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented technical problems.
- Provides technical expertise to region business line, market sector and business development teams, suggesting approaches and differentiators where applicable.
- Provides visible industry and technical leadership within and outside of AECOM.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements**
- BS in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, and 10+ years of demonstrated experience in Biosolids Technology.
- Professional Engineers License with PEO or ability to transfer within 6 months.
- Previous experience preparing process design criteria for biosolids treatment.
- Previous experience in leading the biosolids handling portion for municipal wastewater treatment plant expansion and upgrade design and construction projects.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Master's degree in Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline) with 20+ years of progressive experience in biosolids technology.
- Deep technical expertise in the development and application of biosolids treatment solutions, including:
1. Municipal water and wastewater facility operations, optimization, and troubleshooting
2. Advanced anaerobic digestion processes
3. Sludge thickening and dewatering systems
4. Thermal treatment and incineration technologies
5. Biosolids drying and energy recovery solutions
6. Gasification and emerging biosolids processing technologies
