Title: BioMed Technician I

Location: Long Beach

Department: Bio Med Engineering

Status: Full-Time

Shift: Days

Pay Range*: $39.63/hr - $45.44/hr

Position Summary

The BioMedical Technician I (BMET I) is a Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) specialist responsible for performing preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs for clinical equipment. They ensure the proper functioning of patient treatment and diagnostic related medical devices on a daily basis and in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner. The BMET I understands and develops medical equipment repair and preventative maintenance strategies by understanding complex electronic, mechanical, and system diagrams and processes. The BMET I works with clinical staff to ensure the safe deployment, operation, and conditions of the medical equipment inventory including medical device integration into the electronic health record, and hospital owned medical equipment used in the patients home.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
• Performs scheduled tests, inspections, and preventive maintenance. Uses all approved documentation and medical equipment working practices to develop and adhere to inspection tasks and procedures.
• Performs corrective repairs and incoming inspections.
• Completes all necessary BME work documentation and entry into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) program.
• Maintains shop, test equipment , and equipment user and service documentation in a neat, safe, and organized manner.
• Performs tasks in accordance with current life safety codes, manufacturer guidelines, and established clinical engineering practices.
• Performs medical equipment rounding throughout the hospital as established by BME department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
