What You Will Do:We are looking for a Biologist to support NIAID by conducting complex laboratory research and supporting genome analysis initiatives. This position is a full-time position located in Bethesda, MD.
- Perform a wide range of complex laboratory procedures including:
- Cell culture
- Molecular biology techniques
- DNA/RNA isolation, purification, and sequencing (including Illumina sequencing)
- Flow cytometry and gene cloning
- Conduct research activities, including:
- Planning and executing experiments
- Data collection, analysis, and interpretation
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments in accordance with GLP and SOP guidelines
- Perform next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis and support Genome Analysis Core (GAC) initiatives
- Manage sequencing project pipelines, including timelines, costs, and stakeholder updates
- Develop and optimize laboratory protocols, including:
- Novel sequencing methods
- SOP documentation for training and process standardization
- Maintain accurate and detailed research records and documentation of experiments
- Collaborate with:
- Scientists and external research partners
- Students, postdoctoral fellows, and technical staff
- Train laboratory staff and provide technical guidance on equipment and methodologies
- Ensure quality control and compliance with laboratory protocols and project requirements
- Support development of new laboratory capabilities (e.g., single-cell RNA sequencing, new instrumentation integration)

What You Will Need:- Master's degree
- Minimum of FOUR (4) years of experience in biology or a related field
- Experience with laboratory techniques such as molecular biology, DNA/RNA sequencing, and data analysis
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and detailed scientific records
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based research environment
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.
The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
