Summary

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Biologist, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  • Collaborating with Team Leads and the Branch Chief to support implementation of strategic plans for scientific programs, including alignment with program budget.
  • Supporting branch reviews for project determinations and manuscripts, protocols submitted to CDC committees, and technology/material transfer agreements.
  • Leading implementation of quality standards and coordinating quality systems such as reagent/equipment inventory, document control, and non-conforming events.
  • Collaborating with branch staff to ensure compliance with agency safety policies and subsequent directives from center and division safety officers.
  • Participating in branch and division leadership meetings; assisting with branch program planning and budget preparation.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications: You must possess one of the following-

A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following:

  • Coordinating scientific and public health programs through strategic planning, priority management, and resource coordination;
  • Reviewing scientific and administrative documents to ensure compliance with agency policies, scientific standards, and regulatory requirements;
  • Managing quality management systems, including corrective actions and the resolution of quality-related issues affecting laboratory and program operations;
  • Administering safety and occupational health activities to support organizational compliance with established requirements; and
  • Advising leadership on program planning, resource management, and operational improvements.
