Full Job Description
A Bioinformatics Specialist is available in the lab of Dr. Jen Jen Yeh. Dr. Yeh is charged with growing the Pancreatic Cancer Program and requires dedicated informaticists support from those with MS-level experience using standard statistical and other mathematical analysis methods on complex data. You will be applying bioinformatics and statistical analysis methods to large scale genomic data analysis and supporting various user projects related to genomics.

As a successful candidate, you will:
• Lead and support diverse genomics research projects, performing advanced bioinformatics and statistical analyses of large-scale sequencing datasets, including Illumina and PacBio platforms.
• Translate complex data into clear scientific insights by developing visualizations, presentations, figures, and manuscript content for publication and stakeholder communication.
• Evaluate and implement innovative analytical methods and data-mining approaches to advance genomic research objectives.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects, establishing timelines, tracking progress, and adapting priorities to meet evolving research needs.
• Train and support team members in the use of specialized bioinformatics software, databases, and analytical tools, promoting knowledge sharing and operational efficiency.
• Maintain project documentation, reports, and records while actively contributing to meetings, professional development activities, and special initiatives that support departmental goals.

Your qualifications should include:
• Master's Degree or Ph.D. Degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics. Equivalent Experience preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in applying statistical and computational methods to the analysis and visualization of complex genomics data.
• Strong expertise in genomic data analysis, integration, and data mining across diverse datasets, including RNA-seq, Exome-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, and other NGS platforms.
• Proficient in R/Bioconductor and Python programming, with experience using additional languages such as Perl, Java, and C++ for bioinformatics applications.
• Experienced in analyzing next-generation sequencing data from platforms including Illumina HiSeq/MiSeq and PacBio SMRT sequencing.
• Skilled in utilizing biological databases (e.g., GEO, TCGA) and genomic analysis tools such as BWA, STAR, IGV, GATK, ANNOVAR, VARSCAN, and IPA.
• Strong foundation in statistical analysis, molecular biology, and data visualization, with proficiency in spreadsheet, graphics, and word-processing software.
