Title: BIM (Building Information Modeling) Specialist

Location: 37 Quarry Park Blvd SE, Calgary

Job Overview

Reporting to the Director, Development, as the BIM Specialist you will coordinate the administration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems to ensure consistency, data integrity, and efficient collaboration across all business units. You maintain Revit infrastructure, support users, coordinate system updates and training, and uphold corporate standards for BIM governance and compliance.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Revit Infrastructure and Standards

  • Establishing, maintaining, and controlling versions of all Revit templates, families, and shared parameters in a StreetSide content library.
  • Creating and managing a standardized product library consisting of construction details and parametric building models intended to accelerate deployment of future projects.
  • Configuring and managing BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud hubs, projects, permissions, and work-sharing where required.
  • Developing and enforcing file-naming conventions, folder structures, and modeling health/audit protocols.
  • Implementing automated scripts, routines, and or plugins to streamline model maintenance and data extraction.
  • Applying of above to the generation of permit ready drawing packages and construction documentation.


Process Integration and Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborating with Estimating, Procurement, and Construction to connect model data to downstream systems (e.g., trades and suppliers, ERP, material take-off, scheduling).
  • Conducting periodic process audits, identifying bottlenecks or compliance gaps and recommending corrective actions.
  • Staying current with Autodesk releases and relevant add-ins; evaluating and piloting new tools that enhance productivity or data fidelity.


Governance and Compliance

  • Maintaining documentation for BIM Execution Plans that align with corporate quality standards and provincial building codes.
  • Ensuring data security and backup procedures meet corporate IT and privacy policies.
  • Maintaining, updating, and distributing standardized Revit templates, families, and detail libraries. Ensuring consistency of model organization, naming conventions, annotation styles, and sheet setups throughout all business units.
  • Ensuring effective data management across all Revit models, enabling seamless integration with other software platforms (estimating, scheduling, asset management, etc.) as required. Safeguarding the integrity, security, and accessibility of BIM data.
