Full Job Description
BIM Manager

We are seeking a BIM Manager who can lead model development, cross-disciplinary coordination, and digital design standards across complex, multidisciplinary federal facility programs. We are currently working on projects and have openings available to support the modernization of Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration facilities contributing to the mission of defending the United States and supporting the nation's nuclear security enterprise. If this type of patriotic work motivates you, please fill out an application and send in a resume.

Job Summary:

The BIM Manager serves as the digital model authority for large, multidisciplinary design programs, with particular emphasis on secure, high-hazard, first-of-its-kind facilities where cross-disciplinary conflicts - between security zoning, structural systems, process utilities, and life safety systems - must be identified and resolved in the model before they reach construction. The position's responsibilities primarily focus on establishing and maintaining a shared BIM environment across all engineering disciplines, from initial concept development through progressive design milestones (15%, 35%, 65%, 95%, final) and into construction-phase model coordination.

This role requires setting and enforcing modeling standards, managing model federation and clash detection across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, civil, process, and security disciplines, and ensuring the model accurately reflects design intent at each milestone so that the construction-ready design package is a direct, coordinated evolution of the concept model rather than a series of disconnected discipline-specific drawings. Qualified candidates will meet with discipline leads, the Design Manager, and client technical stakeholders to resolve model coordination issues and confirm model readiness at each design milestone. The project clientele includes Federal Government (DOE/NNSA), Department of Defense, national laboratory-adjacent programs, and other complex institutional and industrial facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain the BIM execution plan, modeling standards, and level-of-development (LOD) requirements for assigned programs.
  • Lead model federation and coordination across all engineering disciplines, ensuring architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, civil, process, and security models integrate into a single, conflict-free federated model.
  • Run and manage clash detection processes at each progressive design milestone, tracking identified conflicts through to resolution with the responsible discipline leads.
  • Ensure model content and detail level are appropriate to each design milestone (concept, 15%, 35%, 65%, 95%, final) and support that milestone's review and deliverable requirements.
  • Coordinate model-based tracking of long-lead equipment, security infrastructure, and process utility routing to support early procurement planning.
  • Manage CADD/BIM technician staffing and production workflow across the program, ensuring consistent modeling quality and standards compliance across all discipline teams.
  • Support constructability reviews by ensuring the model reflects field-installable conditions, sequencing logic, and access/clearance requirements.
  • Coordinate with construction management and ESDC teams during construction to maintain model accuracy against field conditions and as-built updates.
  • Administer document control and model version management, ensuring the design team and client are always working from current, correctly-revisioned model data.
  • Support development and refinement of firm-wide BIM standards, templates, and workflows.
  • Provide model-based visualization and coordination support for client design reviews and stakeholder workshops.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to CADD/BIM technicians and discipline modeling leads.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in BIM management, model coordination, or a comparable digital design leadership role.
  • Direct experience managing federated models across multiple engineering disciplines on complex institutional or industrial projects.
  • Experience supporting progressive design development (concept through construction-ready/IFC) in a BIM-driven design environment.
  • Working knowledge of secure or high-hazard facility design considerations (e.g., ICD 705, IBC H-2, or comparable classification systems), or a demonstrated ability to rapidly develop this expertise.
  • Experience managing CADD/BIM production staff and coordinating workflow across multiple concurrent design phases.
  • MUST BE A US CITIZEN

Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong spatial and cross-disciplinary reasoning ability.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate model-based technical conflicts into clear guidance for discipline leads and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a coordination process across multiple disciplines and design phases simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to track and close out clash detection findings and model revisions across a program's full lifecycle.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, Navisworks (or comparable clash detection/federation software), AutoCAD, and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with document control platforms and model/version management systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any security clearance required by assigned programs.
  • Ability to travel.

Location: Baltimore MD or Washington, DC

Type: Full-Time

Travel: 10%-20%
