ABOUT THE ROLE:Join the High Power Engineering team supporting SpaceXAI to design, build, operate, and maintain electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses. As a BIM/Designer on the Data Center team, you will work with a small on-site team to scale high-capacity power systems on a schedule set by compute demand. The position is based in Memphis, TN, with potential travel to other sites.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Own drawing standards, revision control, the equipment tag register, and the as-built process for Data Center electrical packages, published so Transmission & Distribution and Battery Storage can follow the same conventions.
- Produce and maintain BIM and CAD models: equipment families, raceway, cable tray, busway, and coordinated 3D layouts against mechanical and structural models.
- Run clash detection and issue coordination reports before packages go to construction.
- Maintain the master document list and configuration control across repeated hall packages.
- Support Design Engineers with plan, section, and isometric production from the model of record.
- Capture as-built markups from commissioning and field engineering and close them into the operating record.
- Enforce a single tagging scheme across pillars so protection, studies, and operations are looking at the same equipment IDs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:- Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, drafting, or a related technical discipline, or 4+ years of BIM/CAD production experience in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years producing electrical or multi-discipline BIM/CAD packages for industrial, data center, or utility projects.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:- Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD experience on electrical distribution packages.
- Experience owning drawing standards and revision control for a multi-phase campus.
- Familiarity with NEC equipment identification and one-line conventions.
- Experience coordinating electrical models against mechanical (CDU, piping) and structural models.
- Laser-scan or as-built survey experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize, schedule, and implement solutions with minimal operational impact.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:- Perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights.
- Work extended hours and weekends as needed to support construction, energization, and operations.
- Remain focused in hazardous environments while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for emergencies.
- Willing to work on-site in Memphis, TN. This is not a remote or hybrid role.
- Travel up to 25% for factory witness testing, vendor and OEM engagement, and supporting other sites.
- Valid driver's license.
