You will be a part of highly innovative and efficient multi-disciplinary BIM design team, tasked with designing challenging and complex projects with inventive solutions for Amazon-owned data center facilities. You will provide support to our Design Engineering team through the preparation of Civil, Structural, and Architectural models and documentation, leveraging BIM data. You will influence data center design documents for: exterior envelope design; interior architecture; structural systems; furniture, finishes, and equipment; site and civil planning; space planning; seismic considerations; life safety; and building code compliance. You will produce and maintain Civil, Structural, and Architectural drawing sets for our fleet of data centers.
Key job responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will include designing the Civil, Structural, and Architectural systems of data centers, utilizing Revit to create and maintain BIM models. You should be able to work with support and guidance within a team environment to accomplish assigned tasks. This includes working with internal groups as well as external suppliers and consultants, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.
Your duties will include:
- Being self-motivated to work within the BIM Design group, as well as within other teams.
- Supporting the preparation and development of detailed CSA BIM models.
- Developing & publishing construction documentation for CSA building system designs in a fast-paced environment to meet scheduled deliverables.
- Updating and modifying existing models, studies, and construction documents.
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of BIM templates, and enforcing BIM standards.
- Participating in design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution.
- Working on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
- Assisting the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers.
- Providing coordination support for information requests during construction phases.
- Recording and reporting of key metrics to management.
- Traveling to data center sites for engineering evaluations and surveys as required. On average: once or twice a year.

A day in the life
As a designer, you will collaborate across disciplines and teams to refine data center designs. Your work includes creating detailed models, drawings, specification, prototypes, and updating managers and leaders of changes to the building design. You engage in design discussions, review feedback from peers and collaborators, and adjust designs to ensure our data center solutions meet the highest standards of efficiency and quality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- 3+ years of Civil, Structural, or Architectural design experience on mission critical facilities
- 2+ years of experience using Revit for producing Civil, Structural, or Architectural BIM models and construction drawings
- Experience participating in BIM coordination meetings and performing clash detection and resolution across multi-disciplinary models
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience directly related to the design or construction of data centers
- Familiarity with the BIMForum LOD Specification, as well as applying Lean principles to design modeling and drawing production
- Experience designing within the full lifecycle of a building, from concept to permit, construction, and occupancy
- Use of the following software: Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Dynamo, RF Tools, CTC Tools, Smartsheet, and Procore
- Experience in multi-discipline collaboration on Autodesk BIM 360, Construction Cloud, and/or Forma
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
