Position Title: Beverage Manager

Salary: $85,000 - $95,000

Job Summary

Restaurant Associates is seeking a talented Beverage Manager to oversee an elevated beverage program at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Join us in delivering world-class hospitality at one of the most iconic cultural landmarks in the world, where exceptional service, fine art, and curated cocktails come together.

As a Beverage Manager, you'll oversee the smooth operations of our beverage program, ensuring impeccable service delivery. Your role revolves around upholding the Standards of Excellence set by the establishment and ensuring customer satisfaction. You'll be responsible for managing and coordinating the front of the house staff, ensuring the bar operates efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, train, and mentor bar staff in delivering exceptional service consistent with upscale bar standards.
  • Manage beverage procurement and inventory for the catering department, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and availability of products for daily operations and special events.
  • Develop and create exhibit-inspired signature cocktails for catered functions and special events, delivering unique beverage experiences that align with event themes and guest expectations.
  • Manage schedules, payroll, and other administrative tasks to control beverage costs, including inventory management and setting pars.
  • Organize and lead pre-shift meetings and departmental briefings to ensure staff alignment and readiness.
  • Foster communication with all departments to meet customer service expectations.
  • Develop seating arrangements and daily station assignments, coordinating with support staff to accommodate daily business needs.
  • Maintain reservation systems and manage bookings to meet customer demand.
  • Delegate side work assignments and ensure completion by bar staff.
  • Uphold the highest level of service to patrons, ensuring their satisfaction throughout their experience.
  • Ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are upheld in the bar area.
  • Address and resolve patron complaints promptly, professionally, and diplomatically.
  • Create custom menus/cocktails to be featured for openings/exhibitions/events with the ability to prepare cocktails at scale (700+)
  • Maintain a communicative relationship with the Special Events team while fielding guest requests


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in hospitality or equivalent experience in upscale bar management.
  • Six plus years of experience in upscale bar management, with at least three years in a managerial role.
  • Proficiency in cash handling and reconciliation, including managing cash banks and POS systems.
  • Ability to recruit, develop, train, and provide guidance to hourly associates.
  • Experience in planning, marketing, and executing special events and promotions.
  • Proficient in monitoring and tracking budgets and expenditures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of customer service techniques and current industry standards.
  • Ability to maintain composure and focus under pressure.
  • Proficiency in basic office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and reservations systems.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor are essential.
