Position Summary:This role is responsible for the effective administration and financial performance of the Company's benefits programs, including self-insured medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, health savings and flexible spending accounts, life and accident insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k), leave, and employee wellbeing programs.
The Benefits Manager will play a key role in managing GetixHealth's self-insured health plan and pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) carve-out, analyzing plan performance and claims data, managing vendor relationships, supporting annual renewals and Open Enrollment, and identifying opportunities to improve employee experience while controlling costs.
This position will directly supervise the Benefits Specialist and Benefits Assistant (coming soon) and partner closely with HR leadership, Payroll, Finance, employees, brokers, consultants, and benefits vendors.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and execute a comprehensive benefits strategy aligned with Company business objectives, employee needs, and financial goals.
- Manage the Company's self-insured medical plan and PBM carve-out in partnership with third-party administrators, brokers, consultants, stop-loss carriers, and other vendors.
- Analyze medical and pharmacy claims, utilization, enrollment, specialty-drug trends, and site-of-care opportunities to identify risks and cost-management strategies.
- Lead the annual benefits review, renewal, and Open Enrollment process, including plan design, contribution modeling, vendor coordination, system configuration, testing, employee communications, and post-enrollment reconciliation.
- Evaluate benefit programs for competitiveness, effectiveness, utilization, and cost and recommend changes based on market practices and employee experience.
- Develop benefit-plan recommendations and presentations for HR and executive leadership, clearly communicating financial impact, employee impact, risk, and implementation considerations.
- Manage benefits budgeting, forecasting, vendor governance, and financial performance.
- Oversee third-party administrators, PBMs, stop-loss carriers, brokers, consultants, and other benefits vendors.
- Establish and monitor benefits metrics, dashboards, service standards, and operating controls.
- Lead benefits administration, employee communications, retirement and leave administration, regulatory compliance, and benefits-related processes.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and organizational growth by evaluating benefit programs and assisting with the transition of newly acquired employees to Company programs.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Benefits Specialist and Benefits Assistant.
- Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, and external partners to ensure accurate and timely benefits administration.
Qualifications:Required:- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Progressive experience in employee benefits administration and benefits management.
- Hands-on experience managing or supporting self-insured/self-funded health plans.
- Strong understanding of medical and pharmacy benefits, including PBMs, claims utilization, plan performance, and cost-management strategies.
- Experience leading or supporting annual benefits renewals and Open Enrollment.
- Experience managing benefits vendors, brokers, consultants, TPAs, and/or insurance carriers.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret claims, utilization, enrollment, and financial data.
- Knowledge of applicable benefits regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex benefits and financial information to employees and leadership.
- Demonstrated leadership, organization, and project-management skills.
Preferred:- Experience managing benefits for a multi-state organization.
- Experience supporting benefits integration related to mergers and acquisitions.
- Experience with PBM carve-out arrangements and pharmacy cost-management strategies.
- Previous experience supervising or leading benefits/HR team members.
- Experience working in healthcare or another complex, highly regulated environment.
