Job DutiesThe Office of Mental Health Wellness and Recovery Supports is seeking a qualified professional to serve as the Behavioral Health Wellness Manager in the Office of Mental Health Wellness and Recovery Supports. This position will provide program development, administrative leadership, and implementation and support related to behavioral health wellness programs at DBHDS. Primary areas of focus include administrative oversight of behavioral health wellness programs such as, and not limited to, suicide prevention, Mental Health First Aid, Lock and Talk VA, social determinants of health, and behavioral health resources for new Americans. This position will also provide evidence-based and strategic planning, coordination, training and technical assistance to target the needs of communities, and is heavily involved in internal committees, the development and oversight of Exhibit D's and SFAs, oversight of behavioral health prevention programs, as well as several externally facing workgroups related to strengthening the overall system of behavioral health wellness in Virginia. This is a restricted, federal grant funded position with a renewable grant. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon funding and is not eligible for layoff benefits per DHRM state policy 1.30.
Minimum Qualifications• Knowledge of SAMHSA's Strategic Prevention Framework.
• Knowledge of suicide prevention, which may include the incidence and prevalence of suicide, policy and service delivery issues, best practices for prevention, intervention and postvention.
• Knowledge of Mental Health First Aid, Lock and Talk VA, and social determinants of health.
• Knowledge of Public Health approach to prevention.
• Human service-related supervisory experience.
• Contract development and management skills.
• Solid level of data literacy, including preparing reports and use of spreadsheets.
• Experience with and ability to coordinate, develop, implement, and oversee programs and services, particularly as related to driving governmental systems of care toward more effective delivery models.
• Ability to plan, manage, and coordinate multiple diverse yet interrelated projects.
• Strong writing and critical analysis skills.
• Effective public speaking and presentation skills, with experience speaking to groups ranging from 10-100+.
• Ability to work collaboratively with office directors and other staff of DBHDS to support agency goals.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective communication and productive relationships with stakeholders.
• A collaborative, independent and growth-mindset oriented team player.
• A high degree of self-awareness with respect and cultural humility within interpersonal relationships.
Additional Considerations• Experience in policy and program development, policy impact on local government and budget management.
• Experience in an administrative role, particularly in prevention services.
• Experience with interagency issues at state and local levels.
