Metropolitan Human Services District (MHSD) is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and results-oriented leader to serve as the Behavioral Health Center Manager A of the New Orleans East Behavioral Health Clinic. Reporting to the Behavioral Health Regional Director, this position provides operational leadership and oversight for clinic programs, staff, and daily operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered behavioral health services.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with demonstrated experience in behavioral health, public health, or social services who excels in managing multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement. This role requires exceptional judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively navigate complex situations while maintaining strict confidentiality and compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations governing protected health information. The Clinic Manager is expected to promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, accountability, adaptability, and mutual respect while ensuring efficient operations and exceptional service to the individuals and communities we serve.

This position will be filled as a Job Appointment. In the event that funds become available for a permanent position, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in a social science, health or human services, or health administration field plus three years of experience in health services, social services, nursing, or counseling; OR

A doctorate in a social science, health or human services, or health administration field, or a medical degree plus two years of experience in health services, social services, nursing, or counseling.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Some key responsibilities as a Behavioral Health Center Manager A are:
  • Provide leadership and oversight of daily clinic operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outpatient behavioral health and substance use disorder services.
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate multidisciplinary staff while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, accreditation standards, and federal and state regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, and privacy requirements.
  • Monitor clinic performance through quality assurance activities, audits, and performance metrics, implementing improvement strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, counselors, social workers, and administrative staff to coordinate care and promote positive client outcomes.
  • Oversee provider scheduling, staffing, and operational workflows to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Partner with administrative leadership to strengthen billing processes, internal controls, budgeting, and financial operations.
  • Represent the clinic in leadership, community, and interagency meetings while building collaborative relationships that support the agency's mission.
