DETAILS ABOUT THIS POSITION:
  • Number of Openings (at the time of posting): 1
  • Salary: ($104,293.68 - $131,621.40/ annually)
  • Length of Work Year: Full-time: 8 hours Work days/year: 196 days
  • Work hours: M-F: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (schedule can vary depending on the needs of the school)
  • Location: Special Education / Various Sites

Behavior Specialist:

This role supports students with behavioral challenges by developing and implementing effective behavior management strategies. Under the direction of Educational Services or a designated Director, the specialist collaborates with educators, staff, and families to design individualized support plans such as BSPs, BIPs, 504 Plans, and IEPs. The role involves observing student behavior, conducting assessments, providing case management, and offering consultation and training to staff and families. The specialist also supports district-wide behavior initiatives, ensures compliance with applicable laws and policies, and contributes to a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

- Master's Degree in Behavior Analysis, Education or Psychology
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) required

Credential and Licenses

- Valid Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

- Valid California Driver's License

Experience:

- Three (3) years of successful experience in special education, specifically with students with behavioral and/or mental health needs.

Desirable experience:
- Extensive knowledge in drafting behavioral intervention strategies.
- Effective communication skills with parents, school district staff, or community-based organizations.
- Experience in a school setting implementing Positive Behavior Supports.
