Systems Engineer IILong Island, NY | Full-Time | Field BasedWe are seeking a Systems Engineer II to join our Building Automation team supporting projects throughout Long Island. In this role, you will serve as a key field engineering resource responsible for coordinating installation activities, managing project execution, supporting commissioning efforts, maintaining technical documentation, and collaborating directly with customers, contractors, and project teams.
What You'll Do- Lead field engineering activities on multiple Building Automation System (BAS) and Building Management System (BMS) projects from mobilization through project closeout.
- Coordinate installation activities, project layout, scheduling, and execution at active construction and renovation sites.
- Participate in system startup, commissioning, and pre-functional checkout processes.
- Review project specifications, construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical plans to ensure successful implementation.
- Serve as a primary field liaison between project managers, engineers, subcontractors, customers, and field personnel.
- Attend customer, contractor, and foreman meetings, track action items, and drive timely resolution of project issues.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, redlines, change order records, and field reports.
- Review field sketches and provide technical feedback related to project modifications and change requests.
- Monitor project progress while ensuring quality, safety, and execution standards are met.
- Support cybersecurity best practices on customer systems and network connected building technologies.
- Develop exposure to customer facing project management activities and contribute to successful project delivery.

What You'll BringRequired Qualifications- 2+ years of experience in construction, building automation, controls, low voltage systems, HVAC controls, electrical systems, construction coordination, or related field engineering environments.
- Experience supporting construction or renovation projects in the field.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and construction plans.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, contractors, project teams, and field personnel.
- Ability to travel throughout Long Island and work primarily from project sites.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), HVAC controls, or integrated building systems.
- Experience managing field installation activities, project coordination, commissioning, or construction execution.
- OSHA and/or SST certifications.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, controls networks, and system integrations.
- EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) certification is a plus, but not required.
- Exposure to commercial construction, airports, healthcare, higher education, life sciences, mission critical facilities, or large commercial projects.
For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 86,400 - USD 129,600 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short-term incentives. The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
