Full Job Description
Account Reference Architecture (ARA) is a Completeness Control framework for all Services, Markets, and Banking (SMB) Balance Sheet and Enterprise Bank Cash accounts globally. The platform and associated team provide and maintain a control for end-to-end completeness and integrity between all Citi ledger accounts, their respective cash bank accounts and associated reconciliations. The function ensures that (i) all ledger accounts are appropriately mapped to the associated bank accounts (as applicable) and reconciled in an automated recon platform, (ii) all Citi owned cash bank accounts are appropriately reported in Citi's balance sheet and ledger, and reconciled in an automated recon platform, (iii) any bank accounts that bypass appropriate account management and maintenance procedure are captured and appropriately established in the respective golden source repository, (iv) any discrepancies in data quality are remediated, (v) we have a clear and accurate profile of reconciliation status landscape that subsequently drives organization's automation book of work. ARA is also undergoing further expansion into Enterprise-wide balance sheet over the next three years. ARA is part of the Enterprise Reconciliations Utility (ERU) organization responsible for the global reconciliations, associated reporting and integrity, and leading extensive change book of work associated with MTP reduction, automation, and number of other strategic capabilities.

Bank Account Management & Controls Lead will be responsible for ensuring integrity and completeness of Citi's book-to-bank relationships by investigating and analyzing breaks highlighted as part of the Bank Account, Ledger Account and Reconciliation exception processes. As part of this role, the candidate will be part of both Change the Bank (CTB) and Run the Bank (RTB) pillars by managing day-to-day processes (and team) while contributing towards the Change book of work associated with ARA expansion into Enterprise-wide framework. This will require in-depth analysis, thinking outside-the-box, thought leadership, and partnering with stakeholders and the team. The candidate is a professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required to partner, guide and influence others, in particular colleagues in other areas. They provide advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Their work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the organization. They will be able to accomplish this task by meeting, at minimum, below responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the ARA Team, including validation of book-to-bank mappings, remediation of exceptions, and maintaining data quality standards.
  • Partner with the project team to support the successful rollout of ARA expansion and its integration into Business as Usual (BAU) operations.
  • Drive the establishment and agreement of Roles & Responsibilities and escalation governance frameworks across all relevant stakeholders.
  • Design and implement exception management and resolution processes for new scope areas, ensuring integration into a sustainable target operating model; maintain accurate documentation and update Standards of Procedures (SOPs) accordingly.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on control requirements across balance sheet types (e.g., payables, receivables, suspense, bank cash), advising on associated risks, control gaps, and recommended solutions.
  • Track, prepare, and communicate clear progress metrics and status updates to internal and external management; oversee escalation reporting on appropriate frequency cycles.
  • Ensure issues are properly reported, profiled, and escalated; maintain accountability for process integrity, operational risk, and end-to-end outcomes.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the balance sheet control framework, providing guidance and support to internal teams and key stakeholders.
  • Identify and drive strategic improvements to reduce manual touchpoints; propose enhancements to existing ARA processes to continuously improve completeness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team to ensure process enhancements and fixes are properly submitted, tested, and released; leverage deep understanding of ARA process flows to support continued growth.
  • Analyze and remediate balance sheet completeness exceptions, including ledger mapping, bank account mapping, reconciliation validation, balance validation, and data quality across golden sources.
  • Ensure all processes operate in accordance with SOPs, SLAs, and KPIs; update SOPs as needed to reflect process changes and remediate any identified discrepancies.
  • Establish clear validation and remediation steps for accounts/reconciliations missing in ARA, applying knowledge of reconciliation and balance sheet substantiation processes to drive resolution.
  • Influence stakeholder decisions through expert advice, counsel, and facilitation within areas of specialization.
  • Apply creative thinking and problem-solving skills to remediate discrepancies, working independently, within the team, or cross-functionally as needed.
  • Understand how functional areas integrate within ARA and actively contribute to broader business objectives; stay current on developments within the function and assess their implications for the role and broader business strategy.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key partners and stakeholders - including Bank Network Management, Enterprise Reconciliation Utility, Finance, Balance Sheet Governance, and Operations/Business teams - to identify and implement areas of improvement and address queries.
  • Contribute to the development of new techniques and change-the-bank initiatives; develop business plans, policies, and procedures while demonstrating the ability to lead projects and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Communicate and influence effectively through collaborative and persuasive communication.
  • Take ownership of the volume, quality, timeliness, and delivery of complex work products.
  • Uphold Citi's principles and values in all day-to-day work activities.
  • Manage a team - guide direct reports; oversee outcomes, challenges, opportunities; develop and support growth of the team and the individuals.
  • Demonstrate sound risk judgment in business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies; escalate and report control issues with transparency to safeguard Citigroup, its clients, and its assets.
  • Perform any additional duties as required to meet evolving business needs.


Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience
  • Product Management experience highly preferred (i.e., function/process/capacity management experience)
  • Strong understanding of reconciliations and ledger/balance sheet processes in banking field is required and critical
  • Change management and leadership skillset are highly beneficial
  • Project coordination, reporting, leadership skillset is highly preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills are required
  • Ability to consistently work to a high level of accuracy is crucial
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to recognize key issues / implications and to escalate in a timely manner are critical
  • Experience leading enhancements to process is critical. Experience working with Technology and rolling out requirements is critical.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with strong organizational and time management skills
  • People management experience/skills are critical
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical - strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, ability to influence across teams and levels
