The Role:
This is an exceptional opportunity for a respected leader to shape and drive district-wide operations across a diverse natural resource portfolio. As a Resource Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for complex programs, major resources, and multidisciplinary teams while building trusted relationships with Indigenous Nations, stakeholders, and other partners. With broad responsibility and influence, you will bring the leadership, judgement, and credibility needed to deliver results, strengthen partnerships, and advance Ministry priorities across one of British Columbia's most dynamic natural resource districts.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

• University Degree or Diploma in a field related to Natural Resource Management or acceptable equivalent and five (5) years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of related education and a minimum of seven (7) years of directly related experience may also be considered.
• Directly related experience is defined as experience in natural resource management, in one or more of the following disciplines: forest tenures, forest stewardship, range, forest engineering, water, lands, corporate services, wildfire management, First Nations and land information management.
• Experience developing and maintaining working relationships and resolving problems with stakeholders and partners in natural resource management.
• Must possess and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence (or equivalent).

Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:

• Experience in operational management of forest and land resources. Examples of operational management include field work, prescriptions, authorization, or review of natural resource applications.
• Recent experience (within the last five (5) years) in human resource management, including direct supervision, and in leading and coaching diverse teams.
• Experience moving between technical, supervisory and management levels over the past five (5) years.
• Experience managing a program for a minimum of two (2) years.
• Program administration experience including allocating resources, budget management and business planning.
• Financial management experience including budgets, forecasts, etc.
• Registered Professional Forester, Registered Forest Technologist, or other related professional designation.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available in Powell River.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Powell River.
This position is excluded from union membership.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
