Job Title : Azure Cloud & Data Platform Architect (Epic Reporting)

Position Overview

Build and optimize the Microsoft Azure infrastructure that powers enterprise healthcare reporting and analytics. This architecture-focused role is responsible for designing scalable, secure, and highly available cloud and database platforms supporting Epic reporting solutions including Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito, and enterprise analytics workloads. The position partners closely with Epic application teams while owning the underlying Azure infrastructure, SQL Server architecture, security, networking, disaster recovery, and operational governance.

What You'll Do
  • Design and implement Azure infrastructure supporting Epic reporting and analytics environments.
  • Provide architecture governance, technical standards, design reviews, and Tier 3 support.
  • Architect SQL Server, Azure data services, storage, compute, networking, and security components.
  • Build highly available, resilient, and scalable environments for Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito, and enterprise reporting.
  • Define database architecture, capacity planning, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies.
  • Design disaster recovery and business continuity solutions including replication, failover, and RTO/RPO planning.
  • Implement Azure security controls, identity management, encryption, monitoring, and HIPAA-compliant cloud architecture.
  • Lead Azure migration and infrastructure deployment initiatives.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Python automation, and operational runbooks.
  • Establish monitoring, observability, and operational support processes while optimizing Azure consumption through performance engineering and FinOps practices.
  • Collaborate with Epic application teams, database administrators, Microsoft, and infrastructure teams.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in database architecture, infrastructure architecture, cloud architecture, or enterprise data platform engineering.
  • 5+ years designing and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, high availability, backup/recovery, and database administration.
  • Experience supporting healthcare reporting, data warehouse, analytics, or Epic-related environments.
  • Deep understanding of Azure networking, compute, storage, security, monitoring, and disaster recovery services.
  • Experience designing highly available and HIPAA-compliant healthcare technology solutions.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or enterprise data warehouse platforms.
  • Experience with Python and Terraform.
  • Knowledge of Epic Clarity, Caboodle, Cogito, and healthcare data architectures.
  • Experience leading cloud migration and modernization initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Azure Database Administrator Associate
  • Azure Administrator Associate
  • Experience supporting Epic reporting environments including Clarity and Caboodle
  • Experience in large healthcare provider organizations
  • Experience with EPIC
