Position Description: This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week - subject to change at any time.
Your future duties and responsibilities:• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient AWS cloud solutions to support modernization and migration initiatives within the banking domain.
• Define end-to-end cloud architectures and migration strategies, including re-hosting, re-platforming, and re-architecting, while ensuring alignment with business, technical, security, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with client architects, development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to establish best practices for cloud-native applications, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation, and operational excellence.
• Develop architecture blueprints, high-level design documents, and technical roadmaps while providing leadership across infrastructure, application, and data modernization workstreams.
• Implement AWS security, networking, and data strategies in compliance with enterprise standards and regulatory frameworks such as PCI-DSS and SOC 2.
• Conduct architecture reviews, identify optimization opportunities, recommend AWS-native solutions for scalability and cost efficiency, and support technical solutioning, proposal development, and mentoring of project teams on AWS best practices.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:• 10+ years of overall IT experience, including 5+ years of hands-on experience in AWS cloud architecture, solution design, and enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
• Strong experience with Node.js-based application architecture and development, with the ability to design and support cloud-native and microservices-based solutions on AWS. Node.js expertise is the primary requirement; experience with Python or Java is an added advantage.
• Proven expertise in leading cloud migration and modernization projects involving large-scale applications, distributed systems, and complex enterprise integrations.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS core services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, IAM, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, security architecture, encryption, IAM governance, resiliency, observability, and cost optimization best practices.
• Experience designing and implementing serverless, microservices-based, and event-driven architectures using AWS services such as SQS, SNS, Kinesis, or Kafka.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.
• Experience implementing non-functional requirements (NFRs) including scalability, performance, reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence using tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, or Datadog.
• Prior experience working within banking, financial services, or payments environments is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and client-facing skills with the ability to translate complex technical solutions into business value.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or Associate certification is required.
