About the role:

At Vantage, the Assistant Vice President, Underwriting is a member of our Construction team. The mission of the Construction & Environmental team is to add creativity to tech-enabled efficiency and robust analytics to address risks others avoid. This role will be responsible for underwriting professional and pollution liability for contractors, design professionals, owners', and environmental service providers business according to authority level and established guidelines. This role reports to our SVP, Head of Construction Professional & Environmental Lines and is a remote opportunity or hybrid opportunity based in one of Vantage's office locations. Vantage's US colleagues have the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States (excluding US territories and possessions).

The base salary expectation for this role is between $150,000 and $190,000. Actual base salary for the selected candidate may be higher commensurate with candidate experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Reviewing submissions to ensure alignment with risk appetite and business strategy.
  • Generate new business by working with brokers and clients to find innovative ways to deploy CPP products.
  • Analyze complex risks and unusual transaction structures thoroughly and effectively.
  • Perform underwriting activities associated with the management of all underwriting transactions, service standards and compliance rules and documentation.
  • Demonstrate a customer service mindset by proactively engaging internal and external contacts.
  • Collaborate and correspond with internal and external contacts, to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations.
  • Interact directly with various business partners and internal departments.
  • Meet departmental service standards in place for each process.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned under minimal supervision.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • 5 to 10 years related insurance experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Construction Professional & Environmental Lines.
  • Established network of broker and client contacts.
  • Experience with digital platforms and driving results through automation.
  • Team player with outstanding inter-personal, negotiation and organizational influencing skills; excellent stakeholder/relationship management skills and leadership behaviors.
  • Proven leadership experience with focus on growing and developing team members to drive for outstanding results and creating an inclusive environment.
  • Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth company environment. Vantage associates are expected to be curious, thrifty, and resourceful to manage through the unknowns of growing a specialty (re)insurance business from the ground up.
