Role:Responsible for leading and optimizing all consumer loan production channels, including indirect lending, e-channel lending, and strategic lending partnerships, for a $3B credit union committed to accelerating loan growth, expanding market share, and deepening member relationships. This role drives production performance, dealer network development, digital lending effectiveness, and channel expansion while ensuring a seamless, competitive, and member-centric borrowing experience.
The AVP partners closely with underwriting, lending operations, product, marketing, and digital teams to align growth strategies with credit quality, portfolio objectives, and organizational goals. This leader is responsible for building high-performing teams, strengthening external partnerships, leveraging data-driven insights, and implementing innovative lending solutions that enhance ease of doing business and support sustainable growth.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:Indirect Lending & Dealer Channel Leadership:
- Oversee indirect lending production, dealer relationships, and channel performance.
- Identify production opportunities and maintain strong external partnerships.
- Lead the strategic direction, growth, and performance of the indirect lending channel.
- Develop and execute dealer network strategies that increase loan production, market share, and portfolio growth.
- Establish, strengthen, and maintain productive relationships with dealerships, third-party partners, and referral sources.
- Evaluate dealer performance, loan quality, profitability, and production trends to optimize channel effectiveness.
- Conduct regular business reviews with dealer partners and identify opportunities to enhance production, service levels, and relationship value.
- Negotiate and manage dealer agreements, service expectations, and partnership initiatives.
- Represent the credit union within the dealer community and industry organizations to promote lending solutions and develop new business opportunities.
E-Channel Lending & Sales Performance:
- Lead all e-channel loan production, including online, mobile, digital, and phone-based lending channels.
- Drive application volume, funded loan growth, pull-through rates, and conversion performance across all consumer lending channels.
- Develop and implement sales strategies that increase product penetration, ancillary product sales, and member engagement.
- Partner with Marketing, Digital Banking, and Technology teams to improve lead generation, application completion rates, and funded loan conversion.
- Monitor member behavior, channel performance, and lending funnels to identify opportunities for increased effectiveness and growth.
- Champion a seamless, member-centric borrowing experience that improves ease of doing business and supports member retention.
Sales Strategy & Growth Execution:
- Develop and execute comprehensive lending production strategies aligned with organizational growth objectives and portfolio goals.
- Identify new business development opportunities, market segments, dealer relationships, and channel expansion initiatives.
- Analyze market trends, competitive positioning, and consumer lending opportunities to drive sustainable loan growth.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to establish production goals, growth targets, and strategic priorities.
- Evaluate channel performance and allocate resources to maximize return on investment, production results, and market penetration.
- Support annual planning, forecasting, budgeting, and growth strategies for consumer lending production.
Underwriting Partnership & Sales Alignment:
- Partner closely with underwriting leadership to balance production growth objectives with sound credit quality and risk management practices.
- Analyze approval rates, exception trends, and conversion metrics to identify opportunities to improve lending performance.
- Collaborate on policy, pricing, and process enhancements that support growth while maintaining portfolio quality.
- Ensure sales and lending teams understand credit guidelines, lending solutions, and competitive positioning.
- Foster strong communication between sales, underwriting, and operations teams to create a seamless member experience.
Reporting, Analytics & Performance Management:
- Develop, analyze, and monitor key performance indicators related to loan production, conversion rates, dealer performance, channel profitability, and portfolio growth.
- Utilize data, market intelligence, and operational reporting to identify trends and drive strategic decision-making.
- Provide executive leadership with recommendations regarding growth opportunities, channel performance, and emerging risks.
- Measure return on investment across lending channels, dealer relationships, and business development initiatives.
- Monitor member experience, sales effectiveness, and operational performance metrics to support continuous improvement.
Product Development & Market Positioning:
- Evaluate opportunities for new lending products, delivery channels, strategic partnerships, and revenue-generating initiatives.
- Collaborate with product, technology, marketing, and operations teams to enhance lending capabilities and member experiences.
- Monitor competitor pricing, products, promotional strategies, and market trends to maintain a competitive position.
- Recommend technology enhancements, automation opportunities, and vendor solutions that support production growth and channel effectiveness.
Knowledge and SkillsEXPERIENCE: Needs 8-10 years of related experience including leadership in consumer lending, underwriting, or lending operations.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Bachelor's degree preferred.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.
OTHER SKILLS: Strong analytical, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Expertise in consumer lending and operational processes.
ADA RequirementsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
