Job DescriptionAECOM's Water Business Line is seeking an experienced
AVP, Process Mechanical and Pumping Systems Technical Leader to help lead and advance our growing Water Business Line practice across North America. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated technical leader to serve as a subject matter specialist in the planning, design, rehabilitation, and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater process mechanical and pumping system projects.
The position is flexible and can be hybrid between our Manchester, NH or Chelmsford, MA office or be fully remote. It is expected that this role will provide technical leadership and project support throughout the East and North America.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as one of AECOM's Technical Lead for water, wastewater, and stormwater pumping facility projects.
- Serve as one of AECOM's Technical Lead for water and wastewater process mechanical projects.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in the planning, analysis, design, rehabilitation, and construction of process mechanical and pumping station projects from conception through commissioning.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of AECOM's North America process mechanical and pumping station design standards, design guides, technical tools, quality procedures, and engineering best practices.
- Provide technical oversight and quality review of engineering studies, Basis of Design Reports, technical memorandums, design documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance on complex pumping system challenges and risk mitigation strategies.
- Support design-build and alternative delivery projects through development of innovative and practical engineering solutions.
- Provide technical mentoring and professional development support to engineers and designers throughout the organization.
- Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, industry conferences, and presentations supporting strategic growth initiatives.
- Assess emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving best practices related to pumping station design and hydraulic systems.
- Assist proposal development, project pursuits, technical approaches, and strategic planning initiatives supporting growth of AECOM's pumping station practice.
- Participate in professional organizations and industry committees to promote technical excellence and industry leadership.
- Travel to project sites and AECOM offices throughout the East and North America as required.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with ability to obtain Professional Engineer licensure in additional jurisdictions through comity/reciprocity.
- Experience leading water and wastewater process mechanical and pumping station projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field
- 15+ years of overall experience in water and wastewater pumping station projects.
- Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record and Technical Reviewer for major municipal pumping station facilities ranging from preliminary planning through construction and commissioning.
- Active participation in Hydraulic Institute committees and standards development initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Hydraulic Institute standards, AWWA standards, and municipal pumping facility design criteria.
