About the Opportunity

The AVP, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Architecture will be accountable for the architecture team focusing on the Enterprise Resource Planning within Federal Reserve System IT. This role requires a partner-oriented approach to lead architects who embed with product teams, understand business context deeply, and co-create ERP solutions.

This position is considered an officer level, requiring capabilities, experiences and skills commensurate with leading a diverse team; interacts with peers and business areas throughout the System; influences internal and external parties.

What You Will Do:

Strategic Partnership & Product Engagement
  • Lead team to develops deep knowledge of assigned products, including user needs, key use cases, current challenges, and strategic direction.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, business areas, industry experts, and technical peers to understand how technology can support business strategies and requirements, industry trends, and the broader FRS architecture landscape.
  • Work collaboratively with the business and product teams to identify technical enablers, provide realistic cost/effort estimates, surface scaling and integration risks early, and shape multi-year roadmaps that balance innovation with sustainability.
  • Guide team to bring options, tradeoffs, and strategic guidance to product teams, challenging assumptions and offering better approaches where opportunities exist.
  • Foster a culture where architects feel ownership over the quality, scalability, performance, and sustainability of delivered solutions.


Technical Leadership & Innovation
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, and the broader FRS architecture landscape. Using this information, provide strategic direction to the business areas and architecture team in the development and maintenance of strategies that address these needs. Develop and report on metrics to demonstrate success of these strategies.
  • Maintain continual awareness of industry and technology advances including process improvements, security, and service opportunities.
  • Work to effectively integrate architecture practices into product development and agile delivery processes


Team Leadership & Culture
  • Attract and motivate a team of high-performing architects while providing them with needed resources, experiences, and coaching. Ensure that the team is trained and leveraging best architecture practices.
  • Actively drive a culture of innovation and an environment of learning which fosters engagement, risk-taking, and innovation; uphold these values in all responsibilities.
  • Lead management and staff by setting forth a clear vision of functional goals; hold function(s) accountable for the successful execution of objectives. Collaborate in the development and execution of functional objectives and communicate strategic plans, priorities, and values across audiences.
  • Act as a coach and mentor for technical resources across the FRS. Ensure technical teams are practicing and adopting best practices around architecture, data management, software engineering, and technology adoption. Actively contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing through informal and formal channels.
  • Mentor technical staff and drive programs to improve effectiveness and efficiency.


Communication & Influence
  • Influence and communicate with all levels of the FRS on business, information, and complex technical subjects and roadmaps.
  • Build strong relationships across business and IT stakeholders to gain common understanding and make sound decisions through consensus building.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Seven plus (7+) years of leading experience preferably leading enterprise or equivalent architecture efforts
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive leadership with responsibility for leading highly technical staff and cross-functional or matrixed teams within large, complex organizations
  • Proven track record of embedded architecture partnership: Experience working alongside product teams throughout the delivery lifecycle, not just in planning phases
  • Deep product and business acumen: Demonstrated ability to learn complex business domains quickly and translate business strategy into technical solutions
  • Strong inspirational leadership and motivational skills with the ability to effectively manage high-performing staff and management teams
  • Strong strategic thinking and agility, and an ability to help organizations navigate through significant change
  • Strong networking, relationship building and collaboration skills, including the ability to understand the customer perspective and influence through good listening and observation skills
  • Strong negotiating skills, demonstrated through building consensus across business and IT stakeholders to gain common understanding and ultimately make sound decisions
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, willing to take ownership of issues and drive for resolution
  • Ability to be flexible, decision-oriented, and motivated to support management initiatives
  • Strategic planning skills and experience
  • Able to effectively navigate and achieve results in a federated, multi-location, multi-divisional organizational structure
  • Experience operating in a Product Management/Agile operating model, including active participation in agile ceremonies and product discoveries.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Track record of leading architect teams that maintain high engagement and visibility with key stakeholders, partners and business areas
  • Background in shaping technical roadmaps collaboratively with product leadership
  • Certification in enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.)

  • The hiring range is $221,000 - $305,000 annually.
  • For candidates located near other Federal Reserve Bank locations, outside of Richmond, VA, the listed hiring and salary ranges may be adjusted based on your geographic location.
